Oh, I will add though, that we are going on our summer vacation this year to Mexico and airfare, all inclusive resort for 5 nights is costing us $2700 – so you could do Mexico cheaper.

It sounds like a lot for 5 days to me, but the overall amount doesnt sound bad at all.  I’m hoping to come in around 3k or less for 10 days on St John including air.  (One ticket was free via miles).  I’m also not big into the all inclusive luxury type accomodations either so maybe 3500 is really good for 5 days for something like that.

Flights are crazy expensive right now, so that sounds pretty good to me for a nice place in the caribbean! We spent about $2k because we drove to Santa Fe instead of flying anywhere. Most of that was on hotels – we used all the cash we got as gifts for the nice meals out..

@yassim: I was looking into St. Lucia and it is going to cost us about $4,200 for Sandals for 6 nights and our flight. Are you looking into Sandals as well or another resort?

Flights will fluctuate in price as well.

Our 2-week honeymoon in Europe totalled over $7000 – and we didn’t even live it up (stayed in budget hotels/rented an apartment, didn’t dine in many fancy places). This was definitely the most expensive trip we’ve taken together.  But since we made about $13 000 more than our wedding budget in cash, we used our wedding money to pay for the honeymoon and are keeping our original honeymoon budget in our travel fund.

No, it’s not too much at all! Reading the other posts, I now feel like we’re paying too much.  About $10K to go to Belize for 10 days.

We’re headed to Mexico tomorrow for 14 days/13 nights, and the total w/o excursions was $4,500 USD. (Although I saved a little because at the time I bought the Canadian dollar was trading higher. Haha!) I think that’s pretty normal. St. Lucia tends to be a bit more expensive than other sun destinations, so your cost seems reasonable.

I’d try to squeeze another couple days out of it myself Tongue out haha, but I think that seems like a pretty good deal for st.lucia if it’s all inclusive and includes airfare! And I definetly think it’s ok to spend more for your honeymoon than you typically would on any other vacation.

We’re spending our honeymoon in Italy- 4nights in florence and 4nights in rome. With hotels and airfare (not including food/spending$), it’s between $2,500-$3,000

have fun! 🙂

We’re honeymooning to LA (2 nights), Vegas (4 nights) and New York (4 nights) from Australia so flights/accomm alone is about $6400 so we’ve budgeted maximum $10000 with food, transfers and spending money for ours… however, we chose bigger honeymoon and simple, small wedding over having a big wedding and small honeymoon.

I think that sounds pretty reasonable, but it’s all relative to how much you can afford.
