So every year for Halloween, our family and friends do a big weekend halloween camping trip. We rent a group camp, have costume contests, pumpkin carving contests, decorating contests, etc. It is a family atmosphere, and always a lot of fun. People do everything from scary costumes to cute costumes.
This group camp will also be the site of our reception. My Fiance and I were planning to be a zombie bride and groom (inexpensive and easy to do – plus, he loves zombies). I thought it would be a good halloween twist, but my Mom thinks that it is very eerie for us to be “dead” bride and groom at the site that will host our wedding reception next fall.
What do you all think? Quirky and festive for Halloween, or eerie???

I’m not a fan of the scary side of halloween (crazy I know) but if it is going to bother your mom that much, perhaps skip the bride and groom idea. perhaps you can be regular zombies instead of B&G zombies?

do it! i’m not even into the zombie thing and I think it’s funny. You’re not going to jinx yourself.

I think your mom is silly. You’re not going to be dead.. you’re going to be ZOMBIES!

Maybe you could go as the dead couple from Beetlejuice? Most people immediately recognize the movie and may lessen the creepy factor a bit?

@KatyElle: I would never recognize that couple…
I don’t think it’s super creepy, but I’m not superstitious. If it really bothers your mom though, I agree with just being regular zombies and not bride and groom zombies.

I guess we could always be the zombie bride and groom for halloween weekend with my friends. Fiance is OBSESSED with Call of Duty the zombie version!
Who knows, maybe we will do it anyway. I think it could possibly win us the costume contest….

@MademoiselleL: Ooooookie dokie then! Just a suggestion! It’s a somewhat famous movie.

Or maybe we won’t go overboard. Fiance anted me to have fake blood all over a white dress, and for both of us to wear the fake gashes and bullet holes, etc. We can skip the blood and gore, maybe that will be a good compromise?

I get your Mom’s point but then again it’s Halloween. It’s a day to dress up and pretend you’re something you’re not. So pretending you’re a zombie bride only means you aren’t in real life. 🙂

I think your mom is being too sensitive! I think it would be fun!

If it were me, I’d think it just a little too creepy.

KatyElle, FWIW I would have recognized that couple 😛
And I don’t see a problem with it if you’re not superstitious. I’d probably be just a little too superstitious to do it before the wedding, but Fiance and I are probably going to be a zombie bride and groom since halloween is the week after our wedding.
