I don’t think it’s bad, as long as it’s a fairly easy drive!

I think it’s borderline, but definitely doable.  I wouldn’t make the drive any longer than that.  Maybe do a test run on the same date/time as your wedding (so if it’s a Saturday 4-4:30 ceremony, do the drive on a Saturday at 4:30) and make sure it really is about 35 minutes!

I really, really, really hate driving far for receptions. The most I’ve driven was an hour. For me, 35 minutes is pushing it. Especially if then the guests then would have to wait an hour or more for the wedding party to make their way to the venue (as I’ve experienced). Personally, it bugs me to have a short ceremony and then drive miles and miles for a reception.

I think it’s fine.  I’ve had to drive farther for weddings before.  Is the reception going to be immediately following the ceremony or will they have more time to kill in between?  Because if they have to drive and then wait I think it will be harder on the guests.

That would be no big deal to me, I drive further than that to work every day!

A little late to the party, but I agree – I think 35 minutes is fine.  Especially going by mapquest, I think usually overestimates how long it takes.

I think it should be fine, just make sure if you’re reserving a hotel room block that it is either in between both locations, or closer to the reception site.

I think it’s pushing it.  What city do you live in?  I ask b/c it public transportation isn’t readily available, maybe you could provide transportation for the guests?
