As PPs have mentioned, it probably looked a bit much with regular clothes on. Most weddings are more formal than the average party & certainily more formal than a regular Thursday, so a more glam look is acceptable. I’ve done my fair share of bridal make up (I worked for MAC for ~6 years) and if you feel uncomfortable, go with more sutble lashes, you’ll still feel the glam but not as done up!

Go with your gut and feel like a babe! The makeup artist did a lovely job, and it will photograph nicely.

Agreed with PPs – it might look like “too much” in casual clothes, but once you’re in your wedding dress with all the bells and whistles you’ll look perfect.

You look stunning, and what do men know about makeup anyways!?

jennkneefur :  No, it is not too much. Don’t forget, it will wear off a little throughout the day. I always do brides blush a little stronger than usual because of this and their pics always come out great!

I think you look great! Not over the top or anything. It looks pretty natural except for the dramatic lashes. If you are worried, you could always just tone down some of the lashes.

I’m shocked anyone would comment that that’s too much. Your makeup looks perfect, not over the top (I actually get a “pretty no-makeup-makeup vibe” from that look). It’s very light and natural in color and tone. You look so pretty!

Don’t worry about this being too much. If you don’t wear makeup often, and then suddenly have a full face on, sometimes people can be shocked by the difference. Think about it like someone who always wears glasses, and then you see them for the first time with contacts, or vice versa. It’ll be shocking at first, but it’s not because either look is that different, it’s just because you got used to how “normally” look.

jennkneefur :  Your makeup looks fantastic, coming from somebody that likes a very natural look. It will be perfect for your wedding!!

I think your make up looks great.  Like a PP said, you could try less intense false lashes.  My now husband had the same reaction when I had my make up trial.  I ended up going with less dramatic lashes and it turned out great – looked more natural.  Could be something to consider?

jennkneefur :  Hot damn! Loving this look on you so much! I’m sure your fiance is just more used to your daily look. What your makeup artist did really well is accentuate your natural beauty—I don’t know what you look like sans makeup, but it looks like he/she really focused on highlighting what is there rather than hiding and over-contouring you. Also, as some PPs have pointed out, wedding makeup does benefit from being a bit “overdone” for photography. I think you look beautiful, but what matters most is how YOU feel.

No it’s great!! I love the lip color, very natural. It will do just right, define your features for pictures, and make your face look like you are wearing minimal makeup.

It looks amazing! I don’t wear much makeup normally either and my husband reacted the same way at my makeup trial. When you are dressed up in a wedding dress it won’t look as much to him as it does in casual clothes. I toned mine down a little in that I just changed my lip color to a more neutral pink and that was enough that my husband ended up loving it. You could do something similar if you wanted to adjust it for him, but personally I love your makeup as it is.

Hell no that is not too much! I was overwhelmed by my hair and makeup at my first trial, but it was worth it!

I’m not a fan of some of the Insta make up that’s in vogue right now for wedding photos (just cuz while the look is fun it’s not classic and will date badly) but you don’t have that look.

THis is just right, it’s glam pretty, fresh, classic, lovely. Be confident!

jennkneefur :  I love it and don’t think it is too much at all! If you want to pull it back a bit for your fiancé, you could make a few changes. Ask the MUA to only apply the black liner to the outer corners, use mattes or satins instead of shimmers for eyeshadow, and use less dramatic lashes (I love the Ardell baby wispies). I would also clean up and define the brow a bit more and add a little more of a (natural but glowy) highlight. But that is just my taste!

You look stunning and it is important you are comfortable and confident on the big day! 🙂
