Hi bees! I am a new bee from the UK.
My husband and I are relocating to the USA this coming summer! I am super-excited. Hubby is from the US so we spend a fair amount of time over there anyway.
Now my issue is this – over here in the UK, e-rings are generally ‘expected’ to be on the smaller size compared which what is ‘expected’ in the USA. It is pretty rare to see a 1 carat-plus ring and sometimes there is some inverse snobbery about them (like people will say someone is being ostentatious or wasteful to have a ‘large’ ring).
The styles are also usually more simple – it is rare to see a halo or a pave band though they are becoming more popular!
When we got engaged back in 2005 it was with a moissanite ring which was unheard of, truly, nobody we know had heard of moissanite let alone seen one! Moissy is a bit more ‘out there’ nowadays but still unusual. I got a three-stone and swapped out the sidestones for sapphires as I love that look. My ring got a lot of comments, not all of them complimentary.
For our 5-year anniversary hubs got me a 5-stone moissy anniversary ring and when I wanted to go all-out blingy I would stack it with my e-ring and wedding band (plain rose gold). But I didn’t do that much because our children were very small and wearing my e-ring all the time wasn’t practical.
So usually I wore my anniversary ring and my wedding band and I was v happy with that.
I loved going over to the US because people seemed much happier to wear their bling everyday and I even got to feeling like I’d like some more bling!
I gained some weight recently and my wedding band isn’t the best fit anymore But I thought hey let’s turn this into a positive and contacted moissaniteco about the wedding band which ‘matches’ my original e-ring from way back in 2005. Hubs got it for me for v-day, aww.
I am not sure though! Is this too much? It looks a little FINGER OF BLING to me – I wouldn’t want to stop wearing my smaller anniversary band, and perhaps I should return the four-stone as my whole lower joint is covered?
What do you think, is it okay? Could I ‘get away’ with it in the USA (I couldn’t over here!)
WOAH sorry for the huge pics, I am still a total beginner at this!
Also interesting to see how the moissy is doing at the ‘grand old age’ of 7… I do see a big difference in colour between the 1-carat centre stone and the smaller stones in the new ring. is it okay do you think?
I want to love the 4-stone band but am not sure it works!!
