I have been in a mad search for the perfect place, I found one I fell in love with but its 8 hours for his family to travel to and only 1 hour for my family to travel to and decided against it. And its been hard to find a place that even compares.
Here is pictures of a place that I like right now, but my mother thinks it is ugly (and I know its not her getting married but she is the one paying for it so her opinion counts).
Do you think it is ugly? I don’t have a color scheme yet but I feel like the green will clash with everything, any thoughts? Any ways to dress it up so that my mom might not think it is so ugly?
^ Set-Up ceremony
^ Set-Up for ceremony
^ Gazebo Decorated
^ Lodge/Barn Outside View
^ Inside Barn
^ Barn Set-Up for reception
^ Pavillion can also be used for reception.
I would get rid of the ugly plastic chairs and bring in some kind of elegant ballroom chairs. Get pretty linens. Have dramatic lighting and maybe some fabric draping. Make it elegant country instead of country country.
What are your honest thoughts ladies? 🙂

I don’t think it’s ugly at all… I had an ugly venue on my list and when I saw it I started to cry because I thought it was our last choice…thank goodness I found 1 more! You can do so much with a spot like this!

I think it’s really pretty, and I like your ideas for ‘Elegant Country’. Green is the color of life 🙂
Is your mom a traditionalist? Maybe that’s why she commented in the negative? Just wondering…

I don’t think its bad at all…I think a ceremony in the early evening with all the lights lit up–would be really pretty. And I like the changes that you described. But also, those things can add up in price, it might be easier to go with a place that you don’t have to make changes too. If you aren’t totally satisfied with it, I would say keep lookin’.

I like it! I don’t think it’s ugly at all, but if you don’t love it, keep looking. You might find another place you like/love even better.
Have you seen it in person or just through pictures?

Hmm, Outdoors looks nice, especially with the gazebo decorated – it really depends on your theme / decorations though. A spring/outdoorsy theme would really work, but if you think the green is going to clash, maybe you had something way different in mind.
As for the inside of the barn, it at first glance looks a little scary. With some work I think it could be turned around, but you’d really have to dedicate yourself to pretty-ing it up!
-Try to use the pavillion
-Don’t show your mom that one picture with the scary white floor
-Google the name of the place + “wedding” and see how other brides have decorated, then use the best pics to sell the idea to your mom

I love it! not ugly at all.

It probably wouldn’t be ideal if you were doing a really elegant and sophisticated formal wedding (in terms of theme) but I think it’s in a beautiful setting.

It’s a very beautiful setting for a less formal, close-to-nature wedding! If you get the right angle, even for a beautiful sunset wedding. You might just need lots of flower arrangements to balance the all green.
8 hours drive will worth your beautiful wedding, don’t worry. My fiance’s friends and family will have to fly over 15 hours from Europe to our wedding in Indonesia. They will understand, plus I believe your Mom will be happy seeing you really happy with the venue =)

I think it’s gorgeous, but I may be biased because we’re also getting married on a lake at a gazebo…but I think your location is much prettier than mine.

I think that place looks amazing!! Green is a fairly neutral natural color and will go with pretty much anything you choose in my opinion, after all, it’s the color of leaves and stems right? And I LOVE the looks of that indoor reception area!!

I think the place has potiential, especially he barn ( I really like the white floors) however I am not in any way a fan of the gazebo..It reminds me of the gazebos in parks that I would maybe rent for my daughter’s 4th birthday… sorry 🙁

I really dont think it ugly at all… in fact its quite pretty! I know its hard when parents have the say because they are helping financially, but if you really like the place just explain that to her, and tell her you guys will spruce it up a bit if that will make her feel better lol.

Nope! It’s not ugly. I think it has a lot of potential.
