My Fiance and I were looking to get married at venue called Sweet Briar. We absolutely love what we’ve seen on the website and are going to make plans to head over to see it. I was looking at costs etc. on the website and was completely shell shocked at how much it cost to use the venue! It costs $4,200 for use of:
1. the venue for 7 hours
2. use of the 60×90′ tent for dinner and/or reception, bar, dancing
3. marriage service on sight.
4. all tables and chairs for general seating around facility for cocktails and conversation, all tables and chairs for dinner and marriage service.
5. all setup and cleanup as per my instructions.
6. wedding day coordination of movement of party throughout the day.
7. an opportunity during the week prior to wedding to hold a walk thru/rehersal.
Is that reasonable? I’m still new at looking for venues so it is extremely possible I am shell-shocked.
Thanks for the help bees!

Um it sounds pretty reasonable to me actually! Pictures would be nice because it just all depends on the quality of the venue…but it sounds pretty good!

Just based on what you said, it sounds like a steal!! Where I’m from, the tents alone can cost near 2k. To get all of that is a great deal. I understand the sticker shock completely. It’s hard to imange paying so much money for one day!

it doesn’t sound too crazy to me. I’m not sure what your total budget is, but you can go to theknot.com and use their budgeting tool. It will tell you how much would be reasonable based on your overall budget.

If the venue is a venue that you want badly enough, it is not too much. Like Osa, I would have to see pictures of the venue to determine if it would be too much for me. If you are having doublts about the reasonalbility of the cost, research the cost of each item included for that price, then add it up to see if it would be less expensive that way. With all of those things included and depending on how many guests, I think this is probably a very good deal.

How many guests are you having? I don’t know what prices are like in that area but I had something similar but with food and drink for about 40 at the same price. Maybe your area is more expensive than mine though.

Sounds reasonable to me too. There were a lot of venues I saw with similar things included that was around $6000, so that’s why I think this is pretty good. We figured with all of the added costs of decor and catering it wasn’t worth it for us.

things are typically pretty price in new york right? Our venue rental cost for MI was ~$3000 (chairs, tables, DOC, valet, separate areas for ceremony and reception).

Sounds reasonable to me. Here in Houston most venues start at 8,000 to rent and you don’t get all of that.

I think it depends on the venue. Overall, it sounds reasonable to me. As another has alreday said, often times, tent rentals alone can cost up to wahzoo. And then in addition to that, you’re getting everything else you could need for the day.
The only thing that worries me is the 7-hour time limit. If that’s from ceremony start to reception end, that’s fine. But will they allow you to take pictures beforehand if necessary? If you’re not staying at the venue for accommodations, how early will they let your wedidng party on the premises before the wedding? I would just double-check that.
If the venue is beautiful, it sounds good to me! It’s pretty much all-inclusive, which is why the price seems high. Also, I would inquire about the site coordinator. Sometimes venue coordinators aren’t all that helpful. Maybe you can remove that from the package?
BUT, if the price is too high, I’m sure you can find better deals out there. For example, we got married in upstate NY, and our rental fees for the reception, cocktail hour and ceremony were $600 for the entire day. That also included a rain back-up plan for the ceremony and cocktail hour. Granted, keep in mind that did not include decent looking chairs for both the ceremony and reception, so those, we had to rent and probably spent $1,000 just on two types of chairs and that didn’t include a DOC either. BUT, that’s well under $4200.

It sounds pretty reasonable to me, especailly with a tent. Those things can cost over $4200 on their own!

Wow!! Just reading half way through when you said it included tents & chairs I was AMAZED at the price!!! It’s costing about 5,000 for our tent rentals & 2,000 for our venue. That’s def. a good deal!! I would go for it!

sounds very cheap to me. I would have expected them to charge alot more.

Indeed. If I added all of those things, that is what I’m paying. I am not getting a day of coordinator though and we are having a friend officiate, which is a grand right there I’m sure. I would check out the quality of the tent too. If the tent is old, mouldy, ripped or torn or dirty in anyway, make them promise it’ll be clean day of bc some places don’t care, then I’d say they are asking too much. New nice tents can run a few thousand to rent but if their tent is worn, they are overcharging as it is not worth face value anymore.

Hi, considering that you’re from New York, I’m assuming that’s average price there. I’m from Toronto and everything is equally as expensive here. That price sounds reasonable for everything that’s included. It’s good that the wedding day coordination is included in the package too.
