Hello Encore Brides!
I’m curious as to how many of you have Grooms who have never been married. My Fiance has been engaged twice but never married. (I figure third time is the charm, right?)
I’m 40 he is 42. I think that since we are the age that we are and the type of personalities we have, he is being laid back about the wedding as I am. (He wants to wear Brooks Bros. shorts that have the little lobsters or sailboats on them for our beach wedding). We are having a intimate wedding/ceremony with friends and family.
It’s nice not to feel the pressure of having to get crazy with the wedding planning “because he has never experienced it all” guilt.
How about you?

@MissSangria: Well, my sweetie has never been married either. He was engaged once before. He is 32 and I’m 34. He is fine with doing something casual/going to the justice of the Peace. I told him, ummm, this is your one and only wedding. We are HAVING a party!!! I want him to have all the frills of a wedding.
But this time around, it will be a small/intimate affair. Now I know what I want. I only want people there who are extremely close to both/either of us. I am expecting that it will be fabulous.

My Fiance has never been married or engaged. I am 43, he’s 44. I have been trying to figure out what specifics of a wedding he’d like, but his answers change depending on the day.
I don’t know the specifics, but we both know it will be intimate and completely us!

It’s his first wedding, but not his first marriage.

Well, I didn’t have a groom at all, but it was my bride’s first marriage. I was 56 and she was 41 on our wedding day.

I am 38 and Darling Husband is 46. I am an encore bride but I never had a real wedding. This is DH’s first marriage so we had the wedding of our dreams.

Yep, and his last one if I have anything to say about it (I mean that in a much less threatening way than it sounds, hahaha)

- Wedding: December 2010 - Savannah, GA
This is DH’s first marriage and my third. He was 49 when we got married, and I was 45 when we got married. I’m the only woman he’s ever asked to marry him. I feel pretty honored that he waited so long to find the right person… I wish I had done the same, but then again, if I had, I would have been a different person and he might not have fallen in love with me.

my dh was an encore groom. in fact we were both married on the exact same day in ’98. same city and everything. just a couple of blocks from each other.
this time we both felt completely different. zero doubts.

My Fiance was engaged once before, to the mother of his nearly 6-year old son. But she flipped out on him and broke it off after 6 months. Told him he wasn’t good enough for her. Yay for me!
I was married to a miserable man for 18 years until I escaped and began living. Never would have guessed that God had Fiance in His plan for me!

This is my 2nd and FI’s 1st. I got married very young and had a gigantic wedding (10 years ago). I got divorced very quickly after.
Our wedding now is a decent size 125+/- people. Fiance and I are super exicted. Were getting everything WE want without the imput of others. It can’t come quick enough!

This is a 2nd marriage for both of us. I’m 42, he’s 55. First time around I had the traditional wedding, but he didn’t. He only had two other couples present as witnesses…there was no party, no white dress, no cake, no nothing. This time around he wants it to be “right”…100 guests, the aisle walk….everything. We are super excited! We will have been together 10 years exactly on the day we get married….which is why we chose that date 🙂
