We gave ourselves 2 years to plan the wedding. I’m looking at wedding stuff to day and it dawns on me, I have 18 months left to plan this wedding! If you are DIYing anything at all, get started on that part as soon as possible. I’m making paper flowers right now, and don’t have very many yet, but am finally liking the way the ones I’m making are turning out. Yep, I’ll not be using the first handful I made, they were clearly practice flowers.

That’s my mentality as well 🙂

I’m doing it in my parent’s backyard most likely (it’s large and my mother is a gardener so it always looks amazing), so I won’t have to be searching for venues. I have a budget planned too, so far.
And that sucks! It’s why I’m kind of hesitant to go dress shopping because I feel like the stores will say “Why are you doing this if you aren’t planning to buy today?” sort of thing.
And the DIY stuff will hopefully be done by the end of the year. I have an idea for centerpieces so far, but invites and whatnot will take a little more time.
Thanks for your input 😀

I have been engaged for 5 months. Still have 18 months. I have SO many ideas but nothing set in stone yet besides our bridal party and date. We plan to secure a venue by the end of this month. I have bought some decor items for the misc tables and areas of the wedding but no centerpieces, dresses, caterer, ect. After we get the venue down i think i will be able to do a lot more! Ive been taking my time, really researching my options!!

It’s never too early.
You get dibs on almost everything. We got the date at our venue, with our photographer, and with all the other vendors. It also lets you RELAX and take the time to really plan and enjoy being engaged.
If a vendor brushes you off due to your date being faraway, bye! 🙂
I’m too anal. I need time to plan things and I wouldn’t be comfortable with a short (year or less) engagement.

We were engaged for 2 years before we finally married. Sometimes I got impatient, but looking back now I am glad we spaced everything out. I was able to find things that were perfect for us and really bargain shop for certain things to get the most for our money!

Never too soon! Just start building a savings NOW. ANYTHING will help with the time comes, even for a smaller wedding!!
