    I chose maybe because it really does depend on the style and individual quality. I find myself gravitating more towards designer dresses because I like lace, and expensive lace compared to cheaper lace or lace applique is really different. However, I love a lot of flowy, simple dresses, and I have seen nice versions from various companies.

    Is wedding gown brand important to you?

    Would you buy a no brand name gown?

    The title of your thread and the title of your poll ask two different questions.

    @amon_iv: I actually did buy a no-name brand dress because it was under the name of my bridal store “Gigi’s.” Thanks to Weddingbee, I learned it was a Marisa 815. Then I also learned it’s how Marisa keeps their dresses affordable by going no-name or house brand name. I still love my dress. In fact, out of everyone whose been married in the past few years, mine’s the most unique in part because it was a house brand dress. All of their other dresses could be easily searched and located on various websites. So no qualms about being a no name dress bride here.

    Oops… I voted NO because I thought it was related to the subject of this thread – I meant to say that No, brand is not important to me. In fact, I have not been looking at dress and/or designers before I went shopping for my wedding gown. Only after I got it, I realized that it was actually a designer dress (after looking online), but it really didn’t matter to me.

    I think quality of fabric, design, and sewing are more important than any name.

    I actually had never even heard of my designer before.  I had went to a bridal salon looking at Maggies, Pronovias, etc. and there happened to be a 2be bridal trunk show going on at the same time.  I walked passed this dress haning on the rack and had to try it on.  It was totally me.  It didn’t matter to me that it wasn’t a Maggie or a Pronovias.  It was beautiful.

    I didn’t look at labels, and ended up not buying one probably due to price. 🙂 Can’t beat a $300 wedding dress when you’re on a budget. 😉

    The only objection I’d have to a no-brand dress is that it would be harder to resell afterward.  A lot of brides try on dresses, then look for them by brand and style number online.

    I don’t care about labels.  The brand new dress i bought off of craigslist for $75 works just fine for me!!!

    When I went to the salons I looked at every single dress on the racks, not going by designer name. If I found one I loved from a designer who I’d never heard of, I would’ve still bought it. In fact I tried on a couple of “private label by the salon’s designer” that I thought were beautiful. I do have expensive taste in fabrics and embellishments though, so whatever dress I pick would’ve probably been expensive no matter who designed it.

    I don’t care about designer, but I care about fabric quality. So I voted “maybe”.

    @R.Elliott:

    Yeah, I realized I answered for the quesiton in the title, not the question in the poll. So I clicked no, because brand isn’t important, but should have clicked yes, I would buy a non-brand dress.

    Woops… I messed up your poll.  I voted no because designer is not important to me. I would have bought a no-name brand if it was the one I feel in love with. But I probably would not have bought a dress at a unheard of boutique regardless of the brand.  In my final dress shopping trip I must have tried on about 30 dresses and only after deciding on THE ONE did I ask the designer and the price. Thank god it was in my price range.
