I have always been told not to wear white to a wedding… does that apply to men also? My fiance purchased a new tan suit for my sister’s wedding. It is a spring wedding and my dress is coral, so we should look great together- he wants to wear a coral bow tie. While the color is marked as tan, and tan is a popular suit color, it is straight up white! (YIKES!) Here is a picture for reference. Should Fiance find something else to wear?

I don’t care for the suit, but etiquette-wise, I don’t think its a problem.

Once the suit jackets come off, just about every dude there will be wearing a white shirt.
I would maybe wear a darker shirt to avoid being totally washed out if he removes his jacket (navy, perhaps?) but I think dude’s OK with wearing white – as long as it’s not a white dress (kidding!) and as long as he isn’t a natural attention-seeker (i.e. that guy who’s tearing up the dance floor all night and winds up in every single photo – had me a couple of them haha)

I have a beige suit that I basically bought for summer weddings. It’s fine. It’s not so much “don’t wear white” as “don’t try to look like a bride.” So, unless it’s a gay wedding, go for it.
