Yellow gold is timeless!

My ring is yellow gold (prongs are white) but it’s hard to tell.. My band is really thin with diamonds. TBH some days I regret not getting just a plain gold band, as I want more yellow to show. I’m hoping I can find some kind of band I like that shows more yellow!

@KaylaFromAR:  Yeah, I think I look better with gold jewelry. I still wear the silver sometimes, especially if it’s delicate, but gold just makes me look more healthy and rosy!

I much prefer regular gold to white gold.   I think white gold is more like a fad, it’s pretty, but I don’t think yellow gold could ever go ‘out of style’ it’s super classic!

My promise ring, now RHR is white gold because that’s what my husband chose, and it looks great with the stones that are in it, but my engagement (chosen by him) is yellow gold.   He did say he had a harder time finding what he wanted because everyone pretty much only carried white gold, even online nearly everything was white gold.

I mix metals, too, I don’t care  :p

I don’t think yellow gold is dated looking at all. My ring is white gold, but that’s just because I think it looks better with my skintone. I have quite a few friends who have yellow gold rings that are beautiful!

White gold and yellow gold both come in and out of popularity.  For example all my grandmother’s jewelry is white gold, but all my mom’s is yellow gold (for each it was what was popular when they purchased it).  As you can see by the amount of white gold jewelry in jewelry cases right now, white gold is more in, however yellow gold is making a come back (some celebrities have gotten yellow gold rings recently).  Yellow gold is also MUCH easier to maintain.  Gold IS yellow, and to keep white gold white you have to keep getting it re rhodium plated.  Mine is white gold, and while it is beautiful, it is kind of a pain (and would cost me a ton over time if my fiance didn’t buy it from a store that allows you to buy a life time replating warrantee for just over a hundred).

@KaylaFromAR:  I don’t see why some people think it’s old fashioned TBH; never really understood that one! I get that a lot of people have white metal rings atm, but, platinum engagement rings have been common for ages, along with yellow gold, so I don’t see either as being ‘trendy’ or ‘fashionable’.

I want white metal for mine because that’s always been my preference with jewellery, and I think it suits my skin tone better. However, I do own yellow gold jewellery (inc a solid gold bangle, and several rings), and I don’t think any of my yellow gold pieces are remotely old-fashioned, and love wearing them.
