We’re going by my LMP. I was charting, so I know when I ovulated, and it lines up with my EDD. I’m measuring a few days early on sono, though.

I was charting, so I knew my lmp date wasn’t going to give an accurate date (my cycle was something like 40+ days). My midwife seemed a bit skeptical at the first visit, but after trying to measure with the hand-held ultrasound machine, she agreed baby was too small to be 8 weeks. I came back 3 weeks later and got an ultrasound for my due date (which lined up with my ovulation date on my chart)

My LMP had my EDD at 1 October, my ovulation (confirmed by charting) had me at 7 October and my dating scan done at 9 weeks had me at 5 October.

My midwife has kept my EDD as 7 October and did mention that the later the scan is done, the less accurate it is for dating.

My doctor went by the first day of my last period but i know when I ovulated and concieved so i think its a few days off. I havent had an ultrasound yet so i’m really curious to see if that changes.

My doctor is using my LMP. The u/s showed the baby measuring close enough to that gestational age, so we kept the same due date that LMP suggests.

Mine goes off the period until the 20 week ultrasound and then if that says different they go by that. I guess it also depends on if it’s a big difference or not with some doctors. IF it’s really close they might not see the point in changing it because sometimes you can’t get a good shot of the baby to determine the actual stage he/she is in.

I have long cycles and had to beg them to go off my charts (and eventually sono matched up to my chart, within ONE DAY). It was a battle though.

I have longer cycles, so my doctor went off of my ultrasound. My LMP due date was off by 10 days.

my doc is going by my missed period and i recently read that no matter what you show as on later ultrasounds that first one you do is most accurate for dating. I was only a couple days off on that so they kepy my LMP.

I have irregular cycles so my doctor went off my charts, which matches my ultrasound within a couple of days.

I’ve heard that doctors will start with your period and then change the date if there is more than a 4 day difference with your ultrasound.

I kinda got mixed messages from my doc.  At my initial appoinment, they told me my due date was Aug 18th based on my LMP, but they typically go by the initial ultrasound dating.  So when my ultrasound tech told me Aug. 14th, I was under the impression that THAT was actually my due date.  Then a month or two ago, I found out my doc is still going by the original date.  Although it’s only a difference of 4 days, it’s TOTALLY bugs me and I still tell people my due date is Aug 14th!  🙂

We are going off of the sonogram because I didn’t have a very accurate last period. But at least the calculations that I hame up with was only a day off of their guess:)

@luvalways86:  My OB went with my period until my anatomy scan which was at 17w5d. At that point it was very clear from the size and everything that she was off by 5 days. She changed my due date at that point. This made sense because I always had funny & irregular periods so my period due date really meant nothing to me.

Ay my 8 weeks sono it was showing I was 5 days off but she wouldn’t change it until the anatomy scan so she could be 100% sure.
