(Closed) Is your dress for HIM or YOU?

My dress is for ME and that's that.

I picked something I know my MAN would like.

    Picked something my friends/family chose.

Multiple dress bride lost in the flood of opinions!

Me and Him - I think we will both love it!

Fiance had a few simple requests- nothing that looked “old” (which I took to mean nothing too ivory) and something that “looks like a wedding dress”, meaning recognizably white, floor length, and not something I could wear to someone else’s wedding.

The dress I chose definitely fits those parameters (though had I had my way entirely I probably would’ve gone slightly less traditional), but it’s very me too- all lace, which I’ve always wanted, and not a poufy ballgown, which infuriated his mother, haha.  I think it’s a happy balance and I love it.

I picked a dress for both of us. My dress is a fit and flare and makes me feel so sexy. I want him to look at me and his jaw drop.  But just the other day he said he’d like to see me in a cinderella gown! Are you serious???!!

My dress is all about me, it’s the one time I get to wear a big white dress so the only opinion that mattered was mine. As far as how Fiance feels? Let’s just say he is letting me dress him head to toe and dictate how his hair will look, his feelings towards clothes are not particularly that strong. He would think I was beautiful walking down the aisle in sweats and a trucker cap so buying a dress “for him” is not really a concept that exists.

@JlovesM:  Ditto to: “My dress is for ME and I never asked what he liked bc I’m wearing it, but I know when he see’s me in it, he will LOVE it.”

I feel beautiful it in (didn’t want to take it off in the store), and I think that will shine through in my attitude that day.

I guess for me, since I’m worried about whether he’ll like it or not haha!

My dress is definitely me. In fact, we were looking at pictures of random dresses today and he hates lace (those flower things poking out are ugly..you know I hate flowers right…) and slim cut dresses (“looks like a prom dress”).He liked all the dresses with pick-ups (which I absolutely despise) haha.

My dress is a mermaid which I did not want but you know what, it was the best cut for me. Lace, I definitely wanted. Think he’s going to be quite surprised to see me but I sure hope he still thinks I’m pretty!

I picked a dress I liked and I knew I would be comfortable in. I think he’ll like it too (I can’t imagine anything he would dislike about it, at the very least) He might prefer something a little more body-hugging like a mermaid (I have not asked, for this very reason) but I would not be comfortable wearing it, so I wanted a ballgown.

I still haven’t quite decided on one yet, but the one I do pick will be for both of us.  I’ve asked my fiancé several times if he’d like to see the few I’m trying to decide on and he very adamantly says no.  He wants it to be a surprise.  He basically has told me to pick whatever I love because he thinks I’ll look beautiful in whatever and he wants me to be happy.  The only thing he has asked me to wear is a pink dress. He knows I never wear white and that I’d be far more comfortable in pink!

I picked it for me, but I think he’ll like it.  We both dislike the same things on dresses, so obviously I stayed away from those.  He’s always liked me in white, so I should be ok, haha.

My dress is for ME. I think Fiance has probably imagined something traditional like a ballgown, and while I did try some on, they just weren’t for me. He’d seen my Pintrest board for our wedding and all the dresses I had pinned were lace and more fitted, so I would hope my dress choice doesn’t come as some shock.

I tried to take him into consideration some. I knew he wouldn’t like anything with crazy ruffles or lots of pickup or anything like that. I did have ONE scare since buying the dress. The lady at the tux store was asking about shirts, and asked me right in front of Fiance what my dress looked like because if it wasn’t white he shouldn’t wear a white shirt. Of course I paused, and didn’t answer, to which Fiance replied “It better be white”. It’s actually Allure #8634 in the gold unerlay w/ ivory lace.

I picked my dress mostly for myself, but I also wanted something my DH would like. I picked a classic ballgown that I felt fantastic in and my DH LOVED it! He still goes on and on about how much he loved my dress.

@Sunshine09:  Not really sure how to entirely answer your question, BUT I do know this.  If I didn’t marry my husband, and was marrying someone else, I would have chosen an entirely different dress!  Big, froofy, princess ballgown with the works!  🙂  I ended up with a simple fit and flare gown with light beading.
