I ordered my gown in ivory. White just did not look right on me

Mine is Diamond White. It was the color that I tried on in the salon and it looked great against my skin tone.

Wearing a champagne/ivory dress. Reason being it complemented my skin tone the best

I got ivory because I liked the way it made the lace on my dress look more antique-y.

I liked the warmer look of ivory.

Mine was “ivory” on the tag, but less ivory than a lot of the “diamond whites” out there.

My dress is “Natural”.. lol.  It’s like a softer white, not really Ivory, though.  I loved the way the sample looked on me, so I ordered the same color.

This is from the Maggie Sottero FAQ page:

What is the difference between White and Diamond White?
Our Diamond White is a very light ivory. It has a beautiful softness that makes it very flattering on all skin tones. White is a true, pure white color that would give you that “wedding white” look. Our authorized retailers will be able to show you the differences between Diamond White and White with their fabric swatches.

I have a lace dress and the lace is ivory and lays over gold satin.  The gold color is really warm and really complements my skin tone.  I love it.

Phooey! There may be some rally old-fashioned folks out there who equate white with virginity, but not many, from what I can tell.  To me, it depends on your skin tone. Ivory looks best on fair skin, and white looks best on darker skin.

My dress is ivory, but it is a very light ivory and it doesn’t have any yellow undertones.

@loveknows:  blue is for virgins, not white.  (think about it…what color is the virgin mary’s mantle?)  white was a trend started by queen victoria as a display of wealth.  back then, nobody wore white because there was no way to clean it if (when) it got dirty, so it was a dress you’d only wear once…and nobody could afford to buy an extravagant dress that would only be worn once except the queen (or, they just never thought of it before that).  before queen victoria, everyone pretty much just wore their best dress, or the dress they got for their wedding days became their best dress after the fact.  but, back then, all fashion trends were started by nobility, so when she did it, everyone started doing it.  and now we still do it, only we think it has something to do with being virginal.  *eye roll*

ETA: just for fun, veils have nothing to do with purity either…they served a few different purposes.  for one, it was proper to cover your head in church (in christianity, anyway).  also, usually back then, marriages were arranged and the bride was very young and leaving home for the first time, usually meeting her groom for the first time, so it hid her tears.  and also, going back to the arranged marriage and the bride and groom meeting for the first time at the altar, it hid the bride’s face, so the groom couldn’t high-tail it if he didn’t like what she looked like.  awful, isn’t it?  lol.  i’m wearing a veil anyway.  veils were for other things in other cultures, but that’s the origins in western culture.

so much misinformation about purity.  people need to stop being so judgmental.  if i can’t find a blue dress i want, i’m rocking a white one for sure.  i actually look good in white.  (and ZOMG…i want to wear blue and i’m not pure like the virgin!  i’m an encore bride and have a son who was *not* conceived immaculately, lol.)
