I’m in ivory b/c it looks better on, though I originally looked for red (traditional Indian color), but it just did not look good in a dress on me. It’s interesting, b/c the "tradition" of wearing white is pretty recent (since the marriage of Queen Victoria in the mid-1800’s), and has nothing to do with purity. Some say it has to do with showing off wealth…only a really rich person could afford a white dress that can’t be worn again if it stains. Interestingly in many countries (incl. France) white is the color of mourning.
I think white dresses do look very bridal, but that’s b/c that’s what I grew up with. It’s interesting how trends take off. And it makes it all the more ridiculous when people get all "offended" that encore brides (or previously unmarried brides who are mothers) wear white.

Ha I am WAAAAYYY to pink/ white the color to wear white. All you brides with skin pigment make me jealous! :p

I chose neither. It’s more of a pale champange color than ivory. I did it because of the dress and the way it makes my skin glow.

Mine is ivory even though I wanted white. Personally, I think white looks better with my skin tone despite the fact that I am very fair. But, the dress I wanted ended up going on sale and the only color they had left was ivory. It is a very light ivory, however, so I’m happy with it.
I actually ended up buying two dresses. The first one I found very early in my search on eBay. It’s a very yellow ivory from J.Crew …so pretty. After I found my newest dress, I decided to wear the J. Crew dress to the reception. I only spent $200 on both dresses. Thank you eBay!

This was the very first dress i tried on and i didnt want to change a thing. White would of been nice too as my skin is dark…. but im happy with what i got!!!

It’s my first marriage, and I am going with an ivory dress. I knew I would go with ivory before I ever went dress shopping. I am a pale girl, and pure white looks awful on me! White is too harsh for my skin tone, but luckily ivory is much more forgiving.

Ivory, because that’s the only color the dress came in! I do find white to look a bit harsh on me, so I wasn’t necessarily looking at many white dresses.

My dress is ivory. White just washed me out completely.

I chose ivory because whenI tried on white dresses my mom kept telling me I looked like a little girl.

Mine is ivory since white makes me look more like a ghost.

I always thought I wanted the brightest white possible – I tried on the ivory and it looked much better on my skin tone. Weird because I don’t look good in anything else ivory.

Neither… My dress is BLACK (with white polka dots)! 😀

I went with Ivory lace over champagne and light gold. I just love that’s it’s such a warm color…

I like both but ended up getting a white one….I’m on the fair-skinned side but surprisingly it didn’t really wash me out that much….I also plan to get spray-tanned or go tanning before the wedding so…I’ll have some color.
