Yes, my Fiance and my dad are sooooo similar. I am also very close to my dad (him and I are also very similar personailty wise). My mum and I are always commenting on how much alike they are. Their personalities are very alike- they are both very upfront, stubborn, same sense of humour and same kind of morals. They also are a similar build (muscley, medium height) and they have alot of annoying habits which are the same.

Whenever we stay at my parents place for a weekend and my mum and i go out and leave the boys at home, we always come home to them both asleep on the recliners in the lounge room snoring lol.

Fiance is kind of like my dad, giving, smart understanding but Fiance thinks my dad has done way to much for us.  Pops put two of us thru school, and left us with no bills, helped all five of us move at least 20 times?, has worked 3 jobs at one time (when all five of us were growing up), he’s the rock that keeps our family together.  The four of us are not a greedy bunch (one of us is and no one talks to him) because of the things Pops done we all bend over backwards to help people out.  FI does that too, but some things he thinks are above and beyond ridiculous.  He just worrys that i get taken advantage of but we all do that.

He is MOST like my brother, they are playing WORDS with FRIENDS, and it’s funny cause they BOTH always win at every game anyone plays, so them playing each other is hysterical.  FI lost the first game, and I had to break the news that if this pattern continues … wedding is off.. .lol

in general the men in my family love FIERCELY don’t give their hearts away easily but when they do, they do anything for you, and that’s my Fiance.

Nope, they’re not at all alike.

Physically my father is tall, white, British and very lame (needs two sticks to walk, sometimes uses a wheelchair). My fiancé is tall-ish, half Chinese, has long hair and is able-bodied.

Hobbies/passions: my father enjoys DIY, gardening, wood-carving, etc. My fiancé enjoys adrenalin sports (kiting, motorbikes, etc) and gets bored if he has nothing to do for a few hours.

I guess they gave a vaguely similar moral outlook on life, but my father’s is based (as far as I can tell) on a secular outlook. My fiancé is a Christian, which underlies his attitudes and behaviour.

Apart from being nice blokes, they’re not at all alike.

No, thank goodness.  My father is abusive and an awful, awful person (honestly, I CANNOT WAIT for him to die).  My guy is loving, open-minded, and would never cause the kind of emotional harm my father has.

If my fiancee was anything like my so called father I would NOT be with him. My father cheated on my mother numerous time, stole money, and even worse things.

I think my father and Fi have the fundamentals in common… they are both very honest , hard working and loyal men .

<3 them both

Nope 🙂 Which is a very good thing – my biological father is a horrible human being and my former stepfather, who raised me, is a cowardly wimp of a “man” who cares more about the past and himself than anyone around him.

My Fiance is a lot like my grandfather, though. I consider my grandfather to be my number one male role model and figure in my life, so this is fantastic for me. They’re both intelligent, down-to-earth, happy people who are open with their hearts and affections. I think it is true that you do tend to look for certain qualities in a man that you’ve seen in your male role models growing up. I’m just glad that my attractions fell toward the characteristics from my positive role models vs. the negatives.

If my Fiance were anything more like my dad, they would be the same person. I am a daddy’s girl…we just compliment each other really well. Just like Fiance and me!

• Fiance is an electrical engineer, Dad is an electrician.
• They are both nerdy guys who LOVE How It’s Made, Pumpkin Chunkin, etc.
• They OWN THE SAME POCKET WATCH. (weird)
• They will both side the same way in discussions we have.
• When I ask them their opinion independently of each other, they both (usually) give me the same opinion.

On the flip side, though, Fiance is a liberal democrat and Dad is a staunch republican. Lol!

Hahahahaha!! No way! Well only in a small way. My dad doesn’t restrict my mom from anything. And neither does my Fiance.

But my Fiance is wayyyy better hubby than my dad though. Embarassed

Now that we’ve been married a while, I have noticed a few similarities in preferences of TV shows, nerdy tendencies, and handling major purchases.  But, still, VERY different men, and when I mentioned to DH that he uses the same deodorant my dad did, he changed brands the next day.  😛

They are both well educated and geeky, but so am I! They don’t look alike at all.

Weird fact though- they are both middle children and have 1 older brother and 1 younger sister…
