Someone told me that this is a tad outdated.
however, we recently went to a wedding and loved that the guys had vests over their shirts that matched the bridesmaids.
did you do this?

We decided against vests, but mainly because we got married in the afternoon… in August! We didn’t want anyone passing out hahaha. I think it’s cute when the Groomsmen vests match the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses or sashes.
The groom is wearing a vest but his guys are not. That will distinguish the groom a bit more, especially in pictures of all the guys.
I don’t think it’s dated – many people still do this. 🙂
Nope, I don’t really like the look of vests. They also won’t be wearing ties that match the bridesmaids.
I don’t like colored vests. I think they look very dated. Vests that MATCH the suit/tux are lovely, though. I was SO HAPPY when my bridal shop could get tuxes in the exact color we wanted (dark grey) with matching vests (and then we decided to forgo the jackets).
I like vests and don’t think they’re dated. Though, I am not what one would call a fashoinista, so there is that. My fiance loves wearing vests and will be wearing one, though the guys won’t be. His is black, like the suit and shirt he’s wearing. I love the way it looks, personally.
With tuxedos, I don’t like the look of an expanse of white shirt and I HATE cummerbunds, so vests work for me.
I LOVE vests like the matching suit vests- but DESPISE colored vests. Black on black I like classic.
Yep! Our tuxes look like suites so it dresses them up a little. Fiance and groomsmen will be in tan (FI with an ivory tie and groomsmen with a wisteria tie) and our dads will be in the matching suit in gray with a 2ndary color we’re using- plum. (My Maid/Matron of Honor is in plum and bridesmaids are in the same dress in Wisteria.
(Ignore the pocket squares not matching.)
I actually like the vest look and showed it to my Fiance. He doesn’t like it. He did offer to wear the cumberbund though. He has an image of what he wants to wear, which is fine with me. One less thing for me to worry about.
My fiance wants to weat a bowe tie and cumberbun -,- Its the only thing he really wants so im not protesting haha we’ll see how it goes! I actually love the look of the vests over the white shirts! It looks very classy in my oppinion. I think you should let him wear what he wants.. unless you know his suits powderd blue and ruffley lol Its gotta all match right?
Our groomsmen wore black vests with their black suits and my husband wore a light ivory one which matched his tie and shirt. It looked very good esp when they took their jackets off later on 🙂
@vorpalette: +1. I’d love to see pictures when you have them! I really like the look of dark grey suits with matching dark grey vests.
Also, I like white vests for grooms. Colored vests that match bridesmaids’ dresses just seem so 90s prom to me.
So, where I’m from this is a vest.
men and children wear them under their clothes to keep them warm. So I am all kinds of confused.
I was planning on having colored vests, but now I’m not so sure… the black on black does look a little better to me. But then how do I distinguish the groomsmen from the groom? Just tie colors and/or bouts?
