I think this is a great idea, but I still think a lot of people don’t know about it. It isn’t common knowledge. Also… there is no way I could ever get my cat to wear anything orange. He destroys any collar I have ever tried to make him wear so I don’t know that this idea is entirely practical.

I think this is really cute! It would be great if it caught on.

Have any of you microchipped your cats? One of mine got spayed recently, and I had her get a microchip while under. She would never ever wear a collar, so I figure this is a good idea in case she ever escapes (she’s an indoor kitty).

I have two indoor cats , they have never worn collars ( the were show cats) and collars wear the fur around the neck so that wasn’t happening. They are currently 8 and so far so good never had and escapee. I was a freak about that and put notes on my doors saying  Keep doors closed CATS!  I also believe that collars can also hurt out door cats if the collars gets caught on a twig or something they can’t get out of it.  So I’m not really sure about this idea. You just have to be extremely careful with closing doors.

Ninja just stays inside. There are bears and coyotes outside and we live on a large bit of land, most of it wooded. God knows where he’d end up 🙁

LOL, I interpreted your question so differently before reading the post.  Here I’m thinking about my Figgin who jailbroke by busting open the screens to get out at night in our old rental (always at the door next AM, thank goodness) or Ginger who was a convicted kleptomaniac.

That said, no my still living cat is not a convict.  She’s been really good about sticking around our new property though I have to send her back to the house if I’m taking the dog on a walk or she’ll follow.  I hate to say it but if she disappears out here, it was a hawk or a mountain lion.  Or she fell into the ditch.  Either way she’s not coming back.  I’ll just hope for the best and let her enjoy life, because she is clearly a lot happier now that she can be outside, too.

orangeice:  yes I have all three of mine microchipped, they are indoor too but it is such a good idea to have them done just in case they escape! You are a thoughtful mum to your furbaby I can see 🙂
