Are any Catholic brides inviting their priest to their rehearsal dinner? Our priest is invited to (and will be attending) our wedding reception but we are not sure if we should include him in the dinner we are having with just our family and small wedding party immediately following the rehearsal of the ceremony on the day before our wedding?

I’m not catholic, but we are inviting our pastor and his wife to our rehearsal dinner. He’s going to be there for the rehearsal, so it makes sense to me that he would be invited to the dinner.

Our priest was invited and did show up (albeit a little bit late). We had a small rehearsal dinner with only the parents and wedding party in attendance. We had a total of 18 people at ours, including the priest.

Yes. He made an appearance to the rehearsal dinner and to the reception. I don’t think he ate anything, just came to say hi and mingle a bit.

@iheartct:Thanks for Posting This, I was actually getting ready to post this same exact question.

Yes, it is considered polite to invite the priest to the rehearsal dinner (and to the reception, as well). Our priest had to say a funeral right after our rehearsal, and was busy the evening of the wedding as well, and politely declined both. But I felt better having invited him.

We are not catholic, but we are inviting our Minister and his wife to both the rehearsal dinner and the reception. They have respended yes to both. I am very excited to have them there. I have known him since I was in 1st grade.

We invited our priest to both the rehearsal dinner and the reception. He was not able to attend either and let us know the week before since other obligations came up.

We did – but our priest was my husband’s uncle – we did invite the deacon we did marriage prep with, though he declined both rehearsal and weeding.

Our priest was invited to the rehearsal dinner, but he wasn’t able to make it. At our church, the rehearsal is run by the church wedding coordinator, not the priest, so I’m sure he had other things to do that night. =) He did come to the reception.
