My ring is on my parent’s homeowner’s insurance until we live together. I could never walk around with +5k on my finger and have it not insured!

@meant2B:  I was thinking about it, but my $800 ring only came out to a $8/year quote (Jewelers Mutual), but their minimum rate is $25, and I don’t feel like paying 3x the amount for no reason.

@ceebree:  Really?  Are you sure because my ering is insured with them and my first year was just $16.  Granted the jeweler paid it but I am about to renew it for the second year but I will had my band and earrings to it.

@NovaRising:  When I click “Calculate” on their quote page, a red warning message is at the bottom that says “The total annual premium displayed is our minimum policy premium” because mine is under $25.  Maybe I just need to call and they could make an exception.

@ceebree:  Oh OK I wasn’t sure since the jeweler was the one who initiated my policy.

I JUST insured mine, and I’ve had it for 3 years.  Just added it as a rider to our homeowner’s insurance.

My ring is insured through AAA as a floater policy along with my home. The sad thing is, the yearly insurance cost on the ring is MORE than the insurance for the house. =(

I guess it’s more likely I’d lose the ring vs. the house burning down!

Mine is DEFINITELY insured (It was VERY expensive and DH works in insurance). Our insurance is through Geico, but Travelers are the people that do renter’s insurance!

I think it’s $43 a yer?

@meant2B:  yes its thru Kay jewelers. every 6 months i have to bring my ring in for inspection but its worth it. the ring is totally covered unless its lost or stolen for life.

@bruinchick4:  +1 my insurance quote for a rider on rental insurance from State Farm was outrageous! $60 a month. Granted, there were two more necklaces on the quote, but I just about lost my jaw it dropped so far. I kept thinking there must be a mistake and that they must mean per year, but I was sitting in the office with the agent, so it wasn’t a misunderstanding. I dunno if there’s just so much robbery in that area or what . . .

After Fiance and I get in the same city and settled with everything else, then maybe we’ll talk about whether it’s worth it. Perfect Circle seems more reasonable, but the insurance is still not chump change. I’ll just hold on to my ring, thanks.

Yes, definitely!  DH got free coverage for a year through the jeweler and then after that we’re going to add it on to our home owner’s insurance.  I feel much better having the coverage even though I baby my rings!

We have the ring insured as a specified item under our home contents insurance. We specifically also made sure there was world-wide coverage so it will be covered even if we go overseas. So far *knock on wood* we haven’t needed to deal with the insurance, but I feel better knowing it is insured so I don’t have to worry too much about it.
