Hubby loves to collect vintage sports pictures, which are pretty cool, but really dont fit in with our country chic decor lol. he really doesnt fight me about it, but we are looking to purchase our first home and i agreed that we could hang it in an office or the basement/bar area. I did however come home to him hanging my floating shelves the other day, and the top one was literally 3 inches from the ceiling! i give him credit for attempting, but what the hell was he thinking?? now we have tons of holes to fill in our freshly painted wall…

@Swizzle:  I know a girl whose a staunch vegan who I go to school with, and this semester her roommate is the daughter of a beef farmer. I don’t know how they do it.

Fortunately in this case I do not live with my Fiance yet, and he enjoys videogaming but keeps it exclusively in the office at his ‘command center’ so no hobbies I can’t handle in terms of decorating. We are however both horse people, and while he’s been out of horses for several years he’s looking to get back into it, so I will probably be okay with more barn boots/horse tack items littering our home.

Yes!  Bikes bikes and more bikes in the living room.

Fiance plays darts… might not sound that bad but when I go into the spare room I see the huge leather double bed, the oak side tables, the soft purple carpet… and a huge, multicoloured dartboard consuming the entire far wall. I hate it. So. Much.

YES. The entire upstairs is taken over by his “hobbies.” Gemstones, jewelry making, weapons, airplanes. Its pretty ridiculous.

My DH’s hobby isnt too bad. He likes making music for fun and has dj equipment, tons of records and musical instruments (drums, keyboard, trumpet). Luckily we have a finished basment so all of those things stay down there and are not on my top floor lol

@okqueenbee:  Model airplanes. Sigh. Luckily he doesn’t have a lot of time and he also likes cooking and playing video games…

But right now we have one gazillion tiny bits of planes all over our dining room table. Who knows WHEN he’ll get around to finishing it… AND he’s threatened to DISPLAY them!!!! UGH.

0Other side of the coin, I am a really busy (thankfully!) wedding shop owner on Etsy so our garage is taken over by boxes of hangers, shipping supplies, wire, ribbon, etc. As we come into wedding season we will put out 1000-1250 hangers a week. 6 days a week we ship and our dining room is the work room. The rest of the time I bend the wires in our TV room. I know it must bug my husband to death but bless him – he never says a word.  It goes both ways I guess! When we were planning our wedding, all of my projects started taking up the guest room. Then our bedroom. Then – the house! LOL Poor man.

@sweetchiquita12:  Oh no, I dont like the kind of stuff he makes. Way too big and bulky for me.

He makes stuff like this.

(This is not his, just something similar to what he likes.)

He does collect gemstones too though, so I’ve gotten several pretty rings made from his stones before.

Yes, my Darling Husband loves to build model jets. He has almost every Air Force jet ever produced in model form, plus a bunch of former Soviet Union jets and German aircraft. I can’t spit in our apartment without hitting a model jet or at least one piece of a model jet. I am slowly starting to collect tiny models of Mercedes automobiles too, so I guess we both are contributing to decorating eyesores, lol.

We have a tiny Manhattan apartment so there’s a mutual cluttering that comes from his bike and my clothes.  I wouldn’t say either are an eyesore but it makes our place feel more cluttered which is irritating.

@allyfally:  Wow that is so cool what he makes! Not my style either but I have friends who like that kind of stuff. Nice that you get some good rings from the gemstones he collects!

My dh loves to build models and loves collecting toys.  I told him earlier that his toys are decorating our living room and dining room and when his mancave is done, I will have so much space to decorate.
