We got married in a NYC loft, but we are much more casual rustic peeps.  I would have loved a winery or barn… somewhere definitely outdoors!

I didn’t think a lot about my "ideal" venue because I knew I wanted to get married in or near my hometown, and quite frankly there aren’t that many choices. I’m getting married in a lovely, rustic, stone chapel that’s connected to my family’s history, and I can’t imagine a venue I’d rather have, so I suppose it is my ideal venue. The only thing I’d change would be to make it a little larger so our guests wouldn’t have to sit in one another’s laps 😉

I love the chapel where I am getting married, but my reception space is far from my "ideal."  I had the option of a space that was close to that ideal, but it was more than twice the price.  So, I chose to give up the gorgeous view of the Hudson River and hills, the hundred year old ballroom, and the antique furniture in favor of being able to give my guests a full meal without a view in a newer reception hall because of my limited budget.

I love our ceremony site, but I’m still nervous about our reception site.  No, military museum isn’t ideal, but it was cheap…

I would have picked a huge historic home if funds were unlimited.

Our church is exactly what we wanted, but our reception space isn’t my dream venue. We are getting married on Mackinac Island this May. If we had an unlimited budget, our reception would be at the Grand Hotel. The food is incredible there, the view, everything about the Grand is elegant! I guess a girl can dream 🙂

I’m not sure what my ideal venue is, though I do know my actual venue is not it.  We chose it because it’s in the town we grew up in and is most likely going to allow most of our guestlist to attend.  There aren’t a lot of choices, so we went for what was availalble for the size and price we needed.  I will admit that I’m jealous of some of the gorgeous venues I’v seen and heard about on here, but I just keep telling myself that during the wedding we will be surrounded by those closest to us and the location won’t matter!

My ideal wedding venue here in Atlanta would definitely be outside of my price range, but we’re finding some beautiful places within our budget. Oh well. I just have to remind myself that it’s not about where we get married at all!

my ceremony location is ideal–its the church my grandfather built, as well as the church my grandparents, aunt and parents were married in. there’s no where else i’d rather get married.

the reception location, on the other hand, has been a troublesome for me. at the end of the day i REALLY love the circa 1915 theater i chose (it really is amazing!), but i would’ve absolutely loved a garden party. we’ve decided to get married in december so a garden party just isn’t feasible. we’ll live though… i know it will be FABULOUS.

Our venue is perfect. We both work in theatre and met at the theatre where we are having our ceremony and our reception. He’s even going to get ready in the dressing room that was his when he was in a show there (when we met), and his best man was one of his castmates. Our ceremony will be in the mainstage and our reception will be in the black box studio so we can have lots of fun with the lighting and staging.
