No it’s not true. It depends on the cut and colour 🙂 My yellow gold band seems to show off the diamond more if anything.

I have a rose gold setting with while gold claws – A little different than your question obviously but they certainly don’t have any yellow tinge – the white gold claws are the way to go.

I think it looks whiter, against white any colour in the diamond shows.

I don’t have yellow gold but I heard the diamond looks whiter when it’s set in yellow gold.

Mine is also set in white gold but I agree with PPs, I think yellow gold would make it look whiter. Mine is G in color and, being set in the white, I can sometimes see a little warmth that I don’t think I’d notice if it were set in yellow. I love the warmth though, it gives it personality Smile

You can get away with a diamond with more color in a yellow gold setting compared to white gold. The yellow in the gold “absorbs” a faint yellow tinge. Some people swear by white gold prongs though. I like the look of yellow gold prongs personally and have never noticed diamonds to look more yellow.

Its not that they look yellow, however my jeweller told me not to get a perfectly colourless tone in a yellow gold setting b/c the yellow gold does reflect into a bit making buying a colourless stone pointless… you can get away with a less than colourless stone in a yellow gold setting…
