My venue will likely be in an atrium (http://www.crystalgardenscatering.com) and I want to do rose petals exclusively as my “aisle” instead of an aisle runner. The venue is fine with it, and I LOVE the look (attached photo), but is it going to be too laborous? We’re probably ordering the petals from fiftyflowers.com and in addition to the aisle, I plan on incorporating them on all of the tables. in fact, our cake will probably be designed such that it looks like someone took a giant handful of petals and dropped it on the top.
If you’ve done them – was it a pain in the rear or did it work out?

It won’t let me upload the pic, but here is a website with photos of what I was thinking: http://www.tgisflowers.com/ceremony_flowers.jsp’ defer=’defer

I did! Well, my flower girls dropped them down the aisle but at the reception I went rose petal crazy! I mean they were everywhere. On all the tables, buffet, and on the two big fire places we had. It was like that obnoxious party glitter stuff that you can put on tabels except it was petals. Its turned out beautiful though and to my surprise not so hard to clean up! =)

Oh good!! I’m glad to hear it worked out for you. I am definitely concerned about the clean up, but I imagine it shouldn’t be too terrible.

We used a shop vac. It was sad watching all my pretty petals get sucked up so viciously. lol I kept a handful though.

I got married outside so rose petals were one of the only acceptable things do use as a runner & no clean up!
Surprisingly the aisle looked sparse, I bought about 500 petals and the aisle wasn’t thick w/ petals like I imagined 🙁

I would like to know this too!
I bought about 3000 burgundy petals to spread throughout the aisle but I’m concerned that it isn’t enough.
Can anyone say how many petals it actually took to cover their aisle with rose petals?

Thank you! We’re keeping our fingers crossed that meeting with them this summer will be fruitful – if so, we’re willing to drop the deposit without seriously looking at other places here. 🙂

I’m going to order mine from fiftyflowers.com I thought about 12,000 or maybe just double the order. I want something like this

I read that a thick covering would take 3 cups per sq foot. I’ve also heard that they can get caught in a long train and ball up as you’re going down the aisle. I would do a trial.
