So I’m in the market for a blinging bridal sash for my simple Priscilla of Boston Gown:
and girls have said this one from Nordstrom is amazingly sparkly:
But Its only 18 inches long for $188 and I wanted the beading to go all the way around so I was looking at trimming and found this on MJTrimm.com
Is it just me or do these look exactly the same?!
The MJ Trimm is $120 for A YARD (36 INCHES) as opposed to the Nordstrom sash being only 18″ for $188 so I’m trying to reach out and see if you guys think it is the same!
It is about 1.75″ wide.
What do you think?
A) Is this waht Nordstrom uses?
B) Should I buy MJ Trimm and attach it to my dress instead?
C) Do you have any other cute suggestions for sashes for my dress?

The only difference that I really see is the difference in the color.

I think both of those are overpriced, but yes they look the same. You can find the same trim in down town la for a fraction of the price. Also etsy has tons of trim for way cheaper. Before you buy either of these, speak with your seamstress. Mine had tons of recommendations of where to get trim like this.

@Meowkers: Ooo downtown LA eh?! Good suggestion! I’ve heard people suggest that for lots of fabric and dress related things but where would I start? Is there a particular store you’d recommend? I’m in OC so I’d totally drive up there if even just to look! 🙂

Okay so due to further shopping I ran across a belt I LOVE on etsy that is just classy/sparkly/thick enough ((and might even go with my nautical theme MORE cuz of the subtle wave design hehe)) here:
Its $150 for 18″ but, again, I want a BELT of about 28″ (I think?) so I wrote the etsy seller (expecting a hefty price estimate to come back) but it looks so nice on these brides and really gives some interest with the wave pattern:
HOWEVER I sweaaaaaar I have seen that trim before cuz it looks like 3 layers so I went googling to all the trim websites and etc AND I FOUND IT on eBay!
and get this!
ITS ONLY $36 PER YARD!
Granted, now I have to get a few yards of it and must hand sew it together myself (or onto a mesh ribbon just to be safe!) but MAN I feel like I won the lotto! hehe
Just goes to show ya, shopping around and a little ingenuity really helps save pennies!
I’ll let you all know how it goes!

Great call. I like the wave one a lot. Just have your seamsters sew it on directly onto your dress to avoid the hassel of a ribbon.

My latest obsession is finding applique to add to the sash that came with my dress. I have been looking at patterns similar to you. Did you decide to go with multiple strands of the ebay item?

I actually blogged about this recently and this kind of stuff makes me bonkers. After looking at MILLIONS of sashes, I went to trim stores and found identical or similar at a fraction of the price. Also look at shinetrim.com and haitrimming.com
Good luck. What a racket!!!
