Maybe she just wanted to share something special with her Fiance and enjoy the engagement before being bombarded with questions about the wedding.  Or maybe she didn’t want to tell people until she had the ring (maybe she had to send it back to be re-sized).

Props to her for being able to hold it in for TWO MONTHS!  =)

@kelly105: It may be that she was waiting until after they could tell a certain family member in person before making it public.  It might not be anything against you, it just may be family stuff 🙂

hmm.. it is strange honestly, omg id so upset with my bestie if she did that.. but maybe she just wanted to see if it was an official thing before saying anything just to make sure she doesnt look silly? did you ask her why she kept it away for that long?

either way, Congrats to your friend!

We kept ours secret for over a month from everyone except for two friends. I can totally understand it, engagement can be a big step and it’s not always a decision you want to share with the world before you’ve taken the time to get used to it as a couple.

Maybe there were people she needed to tell first.

Did you ask her why she waited so long?

Here too, I don’t think we told anyone we were engaged for a couple months.

I tend not to announce big news right away. I guess I just enjoy having it all to myself for awhile before it “goes public.”

Sometimes I wish I had kept my engagement a secret! I had a coworker who would ask me every single day if I had planned the wedding yet, and a few times took me aside and tried to bully/cajole/tease me into making concrete plans (very uncomfortable!)

Lol if it was me I think my SO would still be on one knee holding the ring when I started phoning my Mum lol

@MapleMoose: I did this!

We kept it a secret for 3 months. FIs dad was out of the country and we wanted to tell our parents before anyone else. Not gonna lie, it was nice to keep it secret for a while and just be happy without worrying about anyone else.

By the time we told our families we already had a venue booked. When we told everyone we tryed to avoid telling we’ve been engaged for months, just to avoid hurting someone’s feelings.

I kept mine a secret for a month…I wanted to tell my parents and sisters in person…but we weren’t travelling to see them till a month after he proposed.  When they asked the inevitable “when, how, where” questions and they found out it happened a month ago they were shocked i kept it a secret that long.  But it was important to me to see their faces : ). Also, wedding bee helped me a lot during that month to keep haha.
