6 weeks ago my fiance and I went to the same jeweler my fiance got my vintage engagement ring from. We had a great experience with them previously so and trusted them to make a matching wedding band to go with my ring. They told us 6 weeks ago that they would have a rendering for me in two weeks. Two weeks went by- no rendering. I called them and asked about the status of the rendering and they said they’d have it for me in four weeks. 4 weeks went by and I called today as I still haven’t heard from them or received my rendering. I was just told that no work on the rendering has been done but it can be worked on today and reassured me that they would be able thto have ring finished 7 days before my wedding.
I am really upset with their service, especially since no one bothered to keep me updated on the status and I had to keep calling their store back. We’ve already put $350 for the rendering- I’m not sure if we should proceed or if I should ask for a refund at this point.
What would you do?

Nope, nope, nope. Get a refund and go elsewhere. It’s sad that you’ve waited all this time for nothing with a wedding on the horizon.

Ask for a refund and find a new jeweler. They cannot keep their own timelines or be trusted to tell you when/if they change. It has been a month and a half and they have done NOTHING; that’s not okay (unless they had told you it would be that long). Don’t trust them further when they’ve broken that trust twice already.

I’m constantly astounded by the lack of professionalism with businesses in general but particularly in the jewelry/wedding world. There is just zero excuse for poor communication and if they’re dropping the ball in one area…where else is that happening? Pass.

Right? I totally would have been okay with it if they initially told me it would take this long or if they at least called/emailed me saying that there would be a delay- not just taking our money and putting it on the back burner.
They wanted me to leave my e-ring with them and I’m so glad that I didn’t- I’d hate to be without it for so long, especially since they haven’t done jack on working on my wedding band.
When I called today I spoke with a different ring designer from the person we initially worked with. She told me she inherited the job of the rendering from the designer we first met with 6 weeks ago and knew nothing about my ring/ring design.

Not a single bit of effort has been put into you as a customer. ZERO work has been done on your ring. Aside from taking your money, of course.
Get a refund and go elsewhere. Then blast them on Google, Yelp, etc.

I would get a refund and go elsewhere. I can tell you from personal experience that is is very stressful to have poor communication from a jeweler, even if the end product ends up perfect.

Definitely get a refund and find another jeweler. I wouldn’t reward a business like this with my patronage in general principle, but I also wouldn’t want to chance them ruining my jewelry. Whatever you do, don’t give them your engagement ring.

I would get a refund and take your business elsewhere. They obviously do not care about their customers, and I think it is risky to stick with them. What if your ring isn’t ready before the wedding? There are plenty of other jewelers who I’m sure would love your business.
