- Wedding: June 2014 - Church and Mansion on lake
The venue that I desparately want says that it comfortably seats 70 people. Our guest list is anywhere from 85 to 110, we’re not sure yet!
We do have the option of clearing out all the tables that are provided, BUT I’m trying to imagine how to make this a comfortable cocktail type reception.
The thing about our venue is that it is an old mansion in the center of our town on a lake. The porch is a wrap around that is absolutely huge. I don’t think we’re able to put tables on the porch though, considering that it is a historic building and I was told we couldn’t put their tables and chairs on the porch.
Outside of the mansion, there are picnic tables right in front of the lake (that we can’t decorate due to it being a public kind of area, although it is public, not many oublic people sit there), the wrap around porch has steps, so if people wanted to sit on steps, then we also have a new large gazebo that has several benches.
Can I expect that because this is a gorgeous place with lots of pretty flowers (early summer wedding), that people would want to mingle outside?
I also am trying to think of how to set up the chairs, I think I basically want room for people to walk around and mingle, maybe dance, maybe have a photobooth. I do not want a long reception, maybe 2 hours, but still, I pictured just putting chairs lined up against the walls, SOMETHING! I just need to get those big bulky tables out of there!
