OK, i get it, i live in the most expensive city in the world. OK, i get that everything with the word ‘wedding’ attached to it comes with a high price tag. But the quotes i’ve seen for hair/makeup plus bridesmaids are INSANE! and i’m a very ‘all natural’ type of girl, and i plan to wear my hair down and natural looking makeup on my wedding day.
NYC bees (or anyone in a city for that matter), how much was your hair and makeup on your big day? (and your bridesmaids)?
Thanks bees 🙂

I was married in Philly, but I live in NYC so I totally feel your pain. My total for hair and makeup before tip was $180 which I actually didn’t think was too bad, considering how expensive it could have been.

In the UK my friend who got married in August her make-up was £40/$63 (£60/$95 for the trial 6 weeks before) I don’t know about her hair but she had it put up i’m guessing £30/$47. Sorry this isn’t a huge help.

Oh dear, I had someone come to my house. $300. That’s right–$300.
And I live in NYC too.

It was about $325 for my hair and makeup (total, together). They traveled to my hotel, and that was in San Diego (also very very expensive place to live).

Well, I do know a lady who did both of my friends. I did refer someone from on here who went with her and the bee was very satisfied with her service. I won’t say she is mega cheap but she is much much cheaper than other ones I’ve seen. Send a pm if you want more info.

I had my wedding in Paris and it cost 275 Euros for someone to do my hair/makeup the day of. I know it was expensive but I still had sticker shock.

Preeetty expensive 🙁 My hair was $150 and my makeup was $225. Sigh…but it was worth it because I loved my hair stylist and makeup artist and I looked fab, if I do say so myself! 🙂 My bridemaids’ hair was also $150 and their makeup was $85 (done by the same hair stylist and makeup artist).

In NYC too..$350 for both and my hair and make-up looked amazing and I would pay the girl who did it that same amount if not more to make look like that – I was so worried about how I looked day of and I could not have been happier!

@moderndaisy: hmm…i may have to hop on amtrak to PA to get my hair/makeup done, even with the cost of the train it sounds like i would save $! haha.
@JennyW1: is that hair and makeup together?
I would be ok with paying a little too much for myself, but i can’t ask my bridesmaids to pay that much too – and i certainly can’t pay that much for all of them. argh!

Wow, sometimes I love living in a smaller city,
I am paying $40 for hair, and $30 for make-up. Win!

@lauren810c: Em, well, uh, much as I am frugalista, you did look waaaaay smashing in your pictures so I would say it was totally worth it! By The Way, I don’t know if I did mention it in the other thread but your dress alterations turned out very beautiful, I know you worried a bit before the wedding.

I’m getting married in Cancun and there is a hairstylist/makeup artist originally from LA who is charging me $250 + tax for airbrush makeup & wedding hair. It’ll be $350 if I want a trial, but she’ll do it for my rehersal so it’s worth the money.
Still up in the air about all this….

I’m still deciding on my location, but if we do NYC, these are the following prices I’ve found –
Hair – 200-250
Makeup – 150-225
I have a normal go to spa in the city for facial, massage, mani/pedi, but those will be additional costs for getting glam too.
