If you use Outlook and the people you didn’t want to receive the email are within your organization, you can “recall” the message if they haven’t already opened it.

To recall a message, do the following:

  1. In Mail, in the Navigation Pane (Navigation Pane: The column on the left side of the Outlook window that includes buttons for the Mail, Calendar, and Tasks views and the folders within each view. Click a folder to show the items in the folder.), click Sent Items.
  2. Open the message that you want to recall.
  3. On the Message tab, in the Move group, click Actions, and then click Recall This Message.
  4. Click Delete unread copies of this message.

Ahhh I’ve done this before too…I sent an email that was supposed to go to my one friend to my entire class (grad class, 18 of us) AND the professor. And it was something rather unflattering about the way the class was being conducted that the professor did not need to read. Unfortuntately, I don’t know of anyway to retrieve an email once it’s been sent. Some servers let you have a ~2 second “grace” period where you can “undo” your sending (gmail does this and it’s come in handy quite a bit), but I don’t think most do. I’m so sorry, I hate that feeling of “ohhhh crap”.

@jessicahj:  Darn! I was hoping I’d saved you some grief 🙁 Hopefully it’s nothing too bad.
