- Wedding: September 2017
Hello ladies! I have been waiting to write this post for what seems like forever! Im going to give you the short version of our history…We were together for 6 years, had a son, were engaged before, and things just fell apart due to a lot of different life situations as well as us needing to grow up some. We were apart for 2 years. Alot of changes happened during those 2 years and we both decided that neither of us wanted to be without the other. We loved each other and right then and there decided to work hard to fix what we hadnt before and make our relationship a good one. From day one though we knew this was it. We worked out a lot of the kinks in our relationship and got to a really good place and started talking about an official engagement. I cannot tell you what a long few months it has been. there have been meltdowns and even some bumping of heads over how, when and with what kind of ring this was going to happen.
Well this past weekend we made a final decision on my ring and I was convinced I was going to be playing the waiting game for a little while longer. But he did it! It happened yesterday afternoon.
We had been driving around doing some errands and had stopped by a few car dealerships since my Fiance (ahhh!!) is going to be purchasing a new car in the next few months and wanted to see what was available these days. He told me there was a car that his best friends neighbor was selling and he wanted to go check it out. I kind of rolled my eyes (a girl can only handle looking at so many cars in one afternoon) but I agreed and we made the drive over. His best friend lives in a beautiful gated community that is mostly beach homes and summer rentals with a few permanent residents as well. its a stunning community and the views are amazing. This particular lookout point is very special to us since its where we were when he first said I love you, and also where I saw my first ever shooting star when we were first dating. It is one of “our spots”. I knew it was in this community but did not make the connection. I really believed we were going to look at a car. We turned a corner and there was the look out point. At this point I just turn to him with a really nervous face and he starts telling me how much he loves me and how our family is the most important thing to him. He told me that even though we have gone down a long and at times bumpy road together that it brought us right to where we both needed to be and now that we are together he never wants us to be apart again. So on a hill looking out over the lake the man I love asked me to be his wife 🙂 and…. I said YES!!!
So now here we are engaged and blissfully happy! we already have a month picked out for the wedding (september 2013). it may change but it looks like thats going to be the best option for us as far as we can tell at this point.
Thank you Hive! so much! you all have helped me to believe in love when it looked to me like I would never find it, you helped me to get perspective when I needed to in my current relationship, you all have for sure helped me stay sane during this waiting process and even helped me choose my ring! You will still be seeing a lot of me while we dive into planning and Im confident Ill get the same support and advice that I always do around here 🙂 and now what im sure you have been waiting for (kudos to you for reading this far if you did!) ….MY RING!!!
