I can’t believe I’m posting on the Proposals board! Still such a surreal feeling to have such an amazing sign of commitment from my SO… my new Fiance I should say! Ahhhh!
My Fiance was pretty excited around Christmas-time so I definitely thought he’d be proposing some time over the Christmas/New Year holiday, but he was actually just super excited to gift me an overnight stay at the Ice Hotel in Quebec City. We’re from around Toronto so this is like an 8+ hour drive so of course I was excited but did not want to get my hopes up for anything. I was super sure this would be the time, but as the date got closer, I was less and less sure. Actually by the time we were getting ready to leave I was pretty sure he was going to wait for May when we visit Europe for the first time. I decided to let it go all together and just go with the flow, as to not get my hopes up for a proposal. By the time we left I was pretty sure he left the ring at home so forgetting about it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.
So we arrived at the Ice Hotel and went on a couple tours to learn about how it is built, maintained, how to survive the night, etc. (SO COOL for anyone who has a chance to check it out!) We stayed in a room that was themed like a beaver dam and had logs made of ice everywhere – it was amazing!) They have an Ice Chapel on site with full pews where couples can actually get married inside; they said the first official wedding was for a couple from Brazil, so awesome!
We were just walking around taking pictures of everything and saw a tour leave the Ice Chapel. We just figured it would be a good time to get a couple of pictures without anyone else in there. When we went inside, there was one man left from the tour who said something to us in French. I told him we didn’t understand as our French is limited (like, non-existent lol), and he said in the most beautiful accent, “Do you want me to marry you two in the Ice Chapel?” My SO and I laughed it off and then my SO asked if he’d be so kind to take a picture of us. I went to take the camera back after the second shot when this man said, “OOH, A SPECIAL ONE!” and gestured behind me. I turned around and my SO was down on one knee with the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen, both staring up at me! I honestly can’t describe my emotion in this moment! I think I may have actually said “are you serious?!!” 100+ times! I was so overwhelmed with emotion I was just bawwwwling! My glasses fogged up immediately and I had to wear them on my head for like an hour HAHAHA. A few other guests on the property couldn’t help but notice what had happened so we were showered with Congratulations all evening. Just such a surreal feeling!!
My Fiance (ahh too amazing saying that!) designed my ring with a well-known Toronto jeweler who goes by DiamondBoi and I’m absolutely crazy about it!! I just can’t even believe that this is real!
