@hartmamp:  OMG I just checked mine because someone just posted on here how frusterated they were with Macy’s and sure enough.. ALL the cookware we registered for (which they told us was the best of the best when we registered for it 3 months ago) is being dicontinued, as well as our dishes. WTF?!?!

I just posted this response on the other post you refer to, and I don’t know if I totally trust the rep I was chatting with, BUT…. I’m also freaking out so I wanted to share 🙂

Just a heads up – I went into my Macy’s registry today and over half the items are showing as soon to be discontinued. We’re talking Calphalon, Hotel Collection, Martha Stewart …. all sorts of big name items. So when I try to replace the items I’m getting error messages.

I find it hard to believe that so many things all of a sudden are being discontinued so I started a chat with a registry services rep. She told me they’re having issues with the website and that’s why so many things are showing discontinued and unable to add new items.

Take of that what you like, I’m personally going to cross my fingers that I don’t need to do my registry all over again!

There is a dispute between Penney’s and Macy’s over the Martha Stewart line.  Maybe the items are subject to contracts that have or are about to expire?

@hartmamp:  Ahhh! Your post made me check my Macy’s and I’m seeing a bunch of things being discontinued. In googling them, it seems that I have other options to purchase, but geeze that’s annoying!

I had the same issue but I just got off the phone with Macy’s and they confirmed it’s a sitewide issue, and everything has NOT been discontinued.  Take Heart!  All Is Not Lost!

Yikes! I just checked mine and EVERYTHING has the discontinued note. I really hope this is just a glitch in their system!!

Ugh. We got rid of Macy’s because of that. Also, because I didn’t like that you could only register from their list of certain brands and models that were 3xs more expensive than what we wanted to register for.

I recently got an email from Crate & Barrel saying that one or more pieces in my dishware collection that I had registered for was being discontinued! I started freaking out and called them. They told me that it was just the salt & pepper shaker. 

I got lucky, but there’s still 6 months to go til my wedding and 3 til the shower, so anything could happen!

I came here about to post the exact same thing. My entire registry, except for like 3 items, had been discontinued. I was really hoping that there was a glitch or something because my grandmother already bought some of my china. I really hope it gets fixed soon!

Re: Discontining measuring cups — They’re probably altering the style of the cup and thus stop producing the “old” ones. It could be something as simple as a different color on the measurment markers or a slightly longer or shorter handle.

Ladies, FYI, take it with a grain of salt, but I called FREAKING OUT because of this and the woman said it is a problem with the website and it is being fixed. I’m going to call again tomorrow if it isn’t back to normal.
