S
So, I stopped into a local boutique to photograph a few favorites when I noticed a bride in the dress I didn’t dare try on, remembering my fiances’s expressed dislike for “color” in a wedding dress, in fear of falling madly in love, running away with the dress, and suffering the wrath of the beast! As I stood next to this exuberant bride, I could not take my eyes off of her. The dress I wore almost cowered in embarrassment and I felt almost unworthy to even be standing next to her in it (and mind you this was a gorgeous satin mermaid with lovely detail and shape). I couldn’t even look at myself in the mirror anymore because her dress was all I could see. It called to me, flirty and chic. The way it formed to her body and the sheen of the material against the soft light had me convinced that I MUST HAVE IT. I threw off my dress, almost in disgust, and slipped into the most comfortably silky soft, lightweight, stylish, vintage modern mermaid I have ever had the pleasure to wear. It was perfect, though it is 3 sizes too big and will be even more so in my accurate size. It felt amazing and it was totally unique without being gawdy or trendy or absolutely not me. Keep in mind, the dress can also come in all ivory. I wanted to wear it all night because of its intense fashion appeal and amazing shape. With a birdcage, it was couture and completely runway worthy. I hate BLING, unless it is tastefully done with quality materials and unique design. I love simple elegance with a classy, sophisticated, vintage modern approach. This dress is romantic, fun, flirty and vintage. It is everything I wanted in a dress and I have the following amazing ideas:
BLACK, mermaid petticoat/slip to show a bit of flair as I walk and during pics
ivory birdcage during ceremony and BLACK birdcage for reception
MAYBE a BLACK bolero of sort – unsure of this, but thought it was worth looking into
On with the eye candy!

The black one is MUCH prettier and way more flattering. I bet the designer will do it in all white if you don’t want the black.

@TinyTina: I agree! I don’t usually like them either but that dress is stunning on you! My vote was for the mermaid!

First one without a doubt! You’re right, the second one doesn’t even begin to compare to how gorgeous the first one looks on you! Your description of how you felt when you put the one in the first pictures on should tell you everything you need to know – that is your dress!

Of course, the dress will be much more figure flattering in my appropriate size down through the thighs, but just to give you an idea of the profile and back side. So gorgeous, right? 🙂

Usually I don’t like colored sashes, but on #1 styled with the birdcage, it’s stunning! i bet your FI’s general preference would go out the window if he saw you in that. …one of the best looks I’ve seen on here in a while, and I think it’s how good it looks on YOU, not just the dress.

I voted for the A-line, but since you posted those last pictures, I’m recanting and going with the mermaid. It’s gorgeous!

@zippylef: That is true! The dress also comes in solid ivory, but I LOVE the black. 🙂
