Ugh that sucks… I”m sorry. But try to look at (FI’s) bright side ya know? Also, having only 10 people come to a wedding in vegas is different than having only 10 show up in your home town, right? It isn’t like people are choosing cheese night at the cracker barrel over your wedding, asking people to come to vegas is a HUGE expense of time and money and a lot of people (especially this year) can’t afford to do it no matter who is asking. As for people feeling sorry for you… will they even know how many you invited? You could always spin it like “we WANTED a super small intimate wedding” so they think that it was intentional. Even if they do know, they have got to understand that vegas is a hike and a lot of people just can’t swing it. *Hugs*

Yea… that makes sense. I am the first of my friends to get married so I guess I don’t have a lot of that “I did x for them” feeling. I have heard from other people that after you’re married, the whole “wedding” thing really seems to lose some importance… maybe that is part of it? Like they forgot how big of a deal the wedding is? I dunno. regardless it sucks! Especially since (I think I remember you saying) you don’t get along w/ some of FI’s family. Hopefully at least a few of your nearest and dearest will be there with you to celebrate.

No worries… I would prob feel the same if I had spent a lot for other peoples’ weddings! I have only traveled out of state for one wedding (a cousin I’m close to) but when we are married he’ll have a new baby so if he doesn’t come he’ll kind of have an excuse haha. I wouldn’t want to get on a plane with a 6 mo kid!

I’m sorry you feel that way.  But you can’t expect to get what you put out. Sucks sometimes but those are the brakes.  Trust me i’m the same way.  When you have a destination wedding and want your guest to pay for themsleves you have to be understanding if they decline. I’m sure you will have a wonderful wedding and the people who make it will be all you need.

I know it sounds like its not going to be fun and you want to scrap the whole idea BUT I think you are going to have so much fun that you won’t even have time to think about the people not there!!  What about offering to pay for a some friends – maybe offer to pay for 2 or 3 friends 1 night in the hotel?  For $150-300/night you can put 2 or 3 people up in a hotel for 1-2 nights and then they would only have to worry about airfare and maybe 1 extra night??  If you budgeted for 30-50 people then surely you would have some $$ in the budget to help them out?  Just a suggestion….

There is sooo much going on anyways that you guys will have so much fun!!  Shows, gambling, tours….Make the best of it!  Let the guests that are coming have so much fun w/ the $$ in your budget that the ones who don’t come will be jealous of all the fun everyone else had.

Don’t worry everything will come together for you. I get sick with planning too. I think i just worry to much.
