I know my wedding day is going to ‘go how it goes’ as everyone says. And everybody who has been there tells me the same thing. And it seems there are some doozies of stories.
An example of things that happened to friends:
Someone ordered a bucket of KFC to their reception table.
A bride complained all day about her flowers not being the right shade of pink.
Someone hung from the ceiling on a canoe.
Red wine spilled all down the bridal gown.
Someone stepping on the train and ripping the dress.
I watch the episode all the time of Sex and the City where Charlotte marries Harry and everything goes wrong. Just to reassure myself that the point is to enjoy yourself and have a good time marrying a wonderful man.
But I’ll be honest, there are definitely things I’m terrified of happening. I feel like maybe if I get them out it’ll help calm my nerves a bit and maybe we can all have a laugh.
Number one fear: tripping down the aisle.
– farting, hiccupping or any bodily function during the vows
– getting the giggles (I have an IMPOSSIBLE time stopping myself when I have the giggles, I won’t be able to speak and I will look psychotic.)
– cell phone going off during the vows (this also happened to a friend)
– spilling on myself
– my groom having a cold sore – what do I do then? How do we kiss?!
– timings of music and cues being missed

Oh, I hear you. My biggest fear is that someone (myself included) will spill wine on my dress or rip my dress. As a preventative measure, I’ll be avoiding everyone holding red wine and I’ve purchased a cute cocktail dress to change into in case of an emergency. I certainly don’t want to use it, but it’s made me feel a lot better knowing I have a back up plan!

@swarlesk: Don’t let anyone hug you while holding a drink! Right down your back!
Smart thinking with a back up dress.

Biggest fear? My entrance is down a marble spiral staircase. My biggest fear is falling down it. Because I’ve tripped walking down it a few times now. My dad is going to have fingernail marks in his arm from me gripping so tightly to him!

@Sunshine09: Oooo… good tip!

Anyone who spills wine on me is getting punched in the face. Etiquette be damned.

ps – I know for a fact I will trip. I trip all the time. I’m counting on it, and I’m pretty sure Fiance is betting on it.

@Sunshine09: Your music cues – the rehearsal! Include the music! Our rehearsal saved our rears. I can’t recommend doing one enough. I wish we had used the music as well, our cues/song lengths did sort of go funny. On the day, I didn’t care. My smile was bigger than my face.
