After we have our rehearsal we are coming back to my house for an Italian themed dinner party. We are expecting about 30 people and have a fairly good handle on the menu. I am planning on having some gorgeous Italian music playing via IPOD and a home filled with beautiful aromas (at least I hope too!!). I am picturing red and white checked table clothes and white dinner napkins. The dinnerware will also be white. If the weather is good we may set it all up on the lawn, otherwise I will hold it indoors. The lights will be dim with lots of candles and TONS of food. I think we are having 4 courses total maybe 5. However I do need some decorating suggestions. Like I said we’ll have lots of candles but I would have loved the old style chianti bottles with the straw wrapping holding the candles. I can’t find any liquor stores that carry chianti in these bottles, at least not at a reasonable price for me. So what else should I put on the table? I actually have a long dining room table with a buffet table that fits neatly up against the first, so it will appear as one Looooong dining table. What do you guys think would look good? Thanks bees!

I love a good google challenge… this was the only source I could find for those bottles:
what about running some of that dried grapevine stuff down the middle of the long table with the candles nestled in?

You can use ordinary wine bottles. Place candles in them ahead of time, light them and let them drip down to improve the look. Make sure you don’t buy dripless candles.
Place the wine bottle candle holders lengthwise down the center of the table. Here’s a link for reference:

What about Banfi Bellagio Chianti? It’s definately under $15 (I think I’ve seen it nearer to $10 a bottle, and they even sell it at the Rite Aid by my house). I actually have a couple of these bottles – empty – that I intended to use for candles, and never did. If you want them, I would be willing to ship them to you for just the actual cost of shipping them. PM me if you would like them.

I’m actually *thisclose* to finalizing my Italian-themed menu for my wedding and I came across these lovelies:
Keep your favorite bottles of wine after a romantic night, add these lovelies and voila! Instant centerpiece.
Or, there are these beauties:
It’s a wine glass that holds an entire bottle of wine – fill it with deep red water, put in some floating candles and you get instant gorgeous
Hope that helps! Good luck; I’m sure everything will turn out beautifully

I saw a picture on tv this am of an Italain themed table. It was taken from a cookbook called Burger Parties put out by Sutter Wines.
Check your local cookbook store – not to buy it- just to look at the picture.
They had bottles of wine, bunches of grapes(couldn’t tell if they were real or artificial) etc
