Im planning a wedding in Positano, Italy in September. As you can imagine I’m having to pay vendors, venues and the wedding planner. All have requested that I either do a bank transfer or pay in euros cash. I don’t feel too comfortable walking around Italy with that kind of cash on me. i checjpmed with my banks and most charge the usual international transfer fee of anywhere between $30-$40 per transaction and some even add their own % of what y are wiring over on tat too. The bank can earn almost $400 just in their percentage if I go this route. Does anyone have a way that they found to be cheaper when paying for these things overseas?

@rmartinez0628: What about using a credit card that doesn’t have any foreign transaction fees? We got a Capitol One Visa specifically without a foreign transaction fee just for our destination elopement/weddingmoon. (My AMEX added on a foriegn fee, not just the normal conversion rate. It really added up when I went to Finland once.) Assuming they’d take Visa. We paid for the photographer, officiant, venue like that over the phone.

@rmartinez0628: Why not just take the money out in Europe from the ATMs.
Then you don’t walk around with loads of cash except from the ATM to the venue.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I am getting married in Tuscany in September! I would recommend you actually do try to use Euros in cash for vendors. Some will take a 10% discount off total, so could be very worth it!
