I am going to Italy for my honeymoon! We’re staying at the Grand Hotel Nastro Azzurro in Sorrento for 12 nights. I. CAN’T. WAIT. Sorrento seems a pretty good place because it gets nice weather, the hotel looks pretty chilled and there’s some shops/markets to go to. It’s also pretty well placed to go to trips to Ischia, Rome, the Amalfi Coast, etc etc.

The only other place I’ve been to in Italy is Venice. That really is out of this world – I adored everything about it, it is MAGICAL. My Fiance wanted to go back there for honeymoon too, but I think it would be too hot/crowded in August. But maybe if you went there for a few days, then onto somewhere else..I think that would be a fabulous honeymoon.

We’re leaving in 2 weeks!  Hubs insisted in driving across most of Europe.  I think it will be half disaster and half wonderful.  I’m REALLY looking forward to 3 days each in Milan, Florence, and Venice.

Capri is gorgeous! Also Rome is wonderful.

But if I could go back to anywhere in Italy, I would go to Florence. It is such a beautiful city. You can see the David, and the Duomo is amazing.

Have been to Italy many times. Where are you looking to go, what’s on your wish list, when are planning to travel, etc? It’s so romantic!

We’re going to Italy for our Honeymoon also.  My Fiance is from there and has been back many times, so he just wanted me to be able to do whatever I wanted.  So…we’re doing 3 days in Rome, then leave for a western Mediterranean cruise.  The cruise leaves out of Rome, hits Florence, Cannes, Mersailles, Barcelona, Naples then back to Rome.  Once we get back to Rome we’re spending 3 days in Ischia (island off of Naples), with day trips to Capri, Sorrento, and the Almafi Coast.  Then it’s back to Rome for a night and fly home the next day.  It’s going to be a jam-packed honeymoon, but I can’t wait!  Next time we go to Italy it will just be to visit his house (the family still owns the home his mom grew up in), so then I’ll be able to see Venice.  Hopefully you get to go and have a great time.  Good luck!

Definitely don’t miss Florence and Cinque Terre (if you don’t know about Cinque Terre, Google it- best place on earth!!) Are you planning on honeymooning in April? Do you prefer to lie on a beach or see museums/cultural things, or a little of both? Do you like modern cities (e.g. Milan, Turin) or historic ones?

@MrsE2B2013:  I worked in Italy and i fell in LOVE with the country, the food and the people in it. My favourites are Florence, Venice and Lake Garda, you can day trip to the lakes from Venice or vice versa. Verona is also magical, try and go to a concert while your there!

Italy is fantstic, I am there about 4 times a year for work and we just booked our honey moon in the Cinque Terre Area. We are into running, biking, surfing etc. so this is a great spot. Also the wine and food fantistic. I agree rushingangelshe is right on with all those spots. We spent a long weekend in Lake Garda it was great. I would say Venice for two days or so, after that I was ready to move on. Ther are so many great villages you cannot go wrong.

Some of my co worker who live in Italy suggested Alba, Portofino, they did suggest Lake Garda but we had already been.

I love Italy. I went for 2 weeks with my family a few years ago. We went to Lake Como, Venice, Florence, and Tuscany.

I loved all of it, but florence and tuscany were my favourites. Venice is a must see but you only need a night or two there. Florence was amazing. The food was phenomenal, the museums amazing, and climbing the duomo was such an experience. I also could have spent forever in tuscany. Seeing the countryside and hilltop towns, sampling wine, etc.

It was also nice to have “lower key” places on the front and back of the trip with the more action packed stops in the middle.

Italy is so wonderful, you will have an amazing time no matter where you go! I deff recommend Florence/Tuscany or the Amalfi Coast (if you do the latter take the trip to Capri — it’s amazing!). Ohhh I am jealous! 🙂
