I am miserable today.
I have a really nasty kidney infection that’s giving me a temp of 102 so I’m sweaty and cold. They have me on Vicodin for the pain and itching is the one side effect that really gets to me. So I’m sweaty, cold and hot, and itching my skin off all while feeling totally out of it.
My husband and I are going away next weekend for our anniversary so he’a working all weekend and I just wish he were here with me.
My mom would normally come over and hang out with me but her and my Dad took a trip to Vegas for their 30th anniversary, so I’m lonely.
I’m done with the pity party. What are you bees up to today?

Itching is the worst! I had a nasty pine needle allergy after Christmas (Turns out I was allergic to our tree) and ever since then, my skin on my legs has been really dry and itchy. You have my deepest sympathies!
I hope you feel better soon. Do you have a friend you can call on the phone to chat with for a few minutes to not feel so lonely?
Where are you going for your anniversary? =)

Poor thing. I hope you feel better soon. Yah I second watching movies, eating popcorn and drinking slurpees all day long!

Vicodin makes you SO itchy! I’ve had a foot problem for nearly 9 years and have been on it a good chunk of time during the years. Benadryl will stop the itching! I would call and ask your doctor if you can take it. As an added bonus- it makes you sleepy so you can sleep through the uncomfortableness!
I’m so sorry you aren’t feeling well! Feel better!

@Brielle: Thank you!!!
@sharonmariep: Yep, thankfully my husband is addicted to Netflix so I’m laying in our king size bed watching some weird zombie movies!
@christinamarie980: Ooooooh, that’s got to be annoying with them STILL being dry! I called my husband and he actually just stopped by with lunch and some Benadryl. He’s the best. I’ll probably call my sister and beg her to come over and keep me company! And we were planning on going to Presque Isle in PA but the forecast doesn’t look so good so we may just head up to Kelly’s Island!
@ErinC6: Thank you! I have been on antibiotics now for over 24 hours but still feel crappy so hopefully by tomorrow the pain will ease!
@earthbiscuit: Thanks! My husband actually bought me some chicken soup and a GIANT smoothie so I should be set!
@AllieANT: 9 years! You poor thing! Yea, my husband just stopped by and brought me some and I’m about to hop in the shower so hopefully it’ll help ease this awful itching and I can sleep away the afternoon!

Hopefully you’re feeling at least a little bit better. I”ve had my fair share of kidney infections, and they’re no fun. When I’m itchy all over, Benadryl usually helps but makes me very drowsy. After my most recent allergic reaction, I was still itchy all over, and had a rash (it started w/ a rash, but by the time i went to the ER the rash was over 75% of my body and my lips were swelling). The ER dr prescribed something to help with the itchies – I can go see if i have the bottle left or ask Mr Lobizon if he knows what it culd be (love being married to a nurse!). Any chance if you’re still itchy your dr would call something in? Load up some Netflix, grab some trashy mags, and take it easy!

@MsLobizon: Unfortunately, I am still SO itchy even with Benadryl! The pain hasn’t eased much at all and my doctor said if I wasn’t feeling better by Monday to call him and he will give me a shot in my behind. The last kidney infection I had I was hospitalized so I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that! Luckily, my fever is down from 102 to 100. Im hoping that he will give me something for the itchiness tomorrow when I can. My husband has been home most of the day, thankfully and has been spoiling me to pieces.
And oh my to your rash! Was it caused by pain meds or was it an allergic reaction to something else? Thank goodness you’re okay!

@JemmyGee: Oh yuck, I’m sorry you’re still miserable! That’s really the worst. I was on a medication before for lupus that made my skin so sensitive, I didn’t want blankets or sheets on me. If it were me, I’d be setting my alarm (I’m so not a morning person) to call the dr’s office as soon as they open – I hate being miserable when something can help, even if it’s a shot. Would they give you steroids? Glad that your husband is spoiling you! You probably deserved being spoiled before, but now you need it!
I just found the medication they prescribed when I had my reaction was Atarax (generic is hydroxyzine hcl). Obviously different meds may work differently for different people. I just know that it totally did the trick. I already knew i was allergic to a medication that I would have no need to take again as well as latex. I actually carry an Epi Pen b/c my latex allergy has gotten gradually worse. This most recent reaction was so different though! I don’t really get a rash from latex – my neck gets red, and itches a teeny bit, but not majorly. I notice more tingling in my mouth. So, after making dinner one night, my neck was itchy, but I knew I hadn’t ocme into contact with latex. I didn’t have any tingling, so I just kind of brushed it off. When I woke up, the rash was down both arms, most of my chest, and back. My ears were actually so swollen it hurt to wear my glasses (I wear contacts occasionally), and my eyes just looked puffy. Anyway, it ended up worse and my husband was like, “ef this we’re going to the ER”. We’re still not positive what it was, but both my husband and I suspect it was pine nuts (which SUCKS b/c I put them in so many recipes). I had a reaction to latex a few weeks ago, and my husband was at Crossfit so I popped my Benadryl, waited. Wasn’t getting better, so I used my Epi Pen and called my mom b/c she knows how to distract me. My husband was really great about it, adn seriously, within five minutes of my Epi Pen, i could feel it going away.
