Hey ladies! So, as some of you may know from my Watters Escalante post, I’m thinking about getting a dress made similar to this one.
However, I’m worried about the lace top being itchy. Since the lace on top isn’t lined, I was wondering if any of you bees have worn Alencon (or other high-quality) laces without any lining? If so, did it bother your skin? I have somewhat sensitive skin and don’t want to end up scratching all night.
With that in mind, what nice, high-quality (non-itchy) lace would you recommend for the bodice? I would be getting the dress made through a designer on Etsy but I want to make sure I will be comfortable in this style of dress before committing to anything.

Very beautiful dress!!!
I really don’t think that the lace on your dress with be itchy; just from looking at it. I also have very sensitive skin, so I have to be very careful too. Your dress looks like it is very well made and the seams will be finished of in such a way that they shouldn’t irritate your skin. That being said, I did purchase an Alencon lace bolero/jacket that is not lined, and it is not itchy at all. It feels really smooth on my skin; sorry that is the best way I can describe it, except that it also feels dreamy when I have it on 🙂

@noritake22: Thanks for your response! It’s great to hear about your lace bolero; sounds lovely. I wanted to check in with the bees since someone who tried the dress on mentioned that the lace irritated her skin. The good thing about getting the dress made for me is that I can ask for non-itchy lace :).
