i “accidentally” lost about 7lb this past fall…let me tell you i was completely shocked. i used to be ridiculously skinny in high school and then the scale started creeping upward in college and through my 20s. the norm now is accidentally gaining weight…it takes effort to keep the scale STABLE these days. i was about 175lb last august, before moving to MN, and then just before thanksgiving i got on the scale thinking about damage control because i hadn’t been keeping track of what i was eating and hadn’t had the time to exercise since i moved. somehow magically i’d dropped to 168. it was an awesome feeling. a lot like finding $20 in the dryer, only longer-lasting, lol. so this morning, after being away from home for nearly 2 weeks for the holidays, i was thinking about damage control again and got on the scale. this time it said 164.4lb. *floored*
i have to say though, i’m not taking this for granted. i lost weight before i got married the first time in 2007 (i started at 168 and dropped 20lb in about 10 weeks), and it was a BEAST to do. strict calorie counting and portion control, 60min of cardio at the gym 4x a week (which was hard to schedule in THEN…NOW i have a toddler and no gym membership). not only that, but it all came right back as soon as i relaxed a bit after the wedding. i think these surprises have kind of motivated me to eat right with smaller portions and to get more active though.
now if only something miraculous would happen to make me more proactive about keeping our house clean, lol.
