Ahhh! I am so excited. Fiance and picked out a boy’s name no problem, but we’re really struggling with a girl’s. So of course we’re having a daughter. I made a post about this before, but after having bees pick my potential names apart (I asked for tough love) I’ve decided on new ones, with a little of the old ones mixed in.
Fiance and I have kind of a quirky taste in names, this is kind of a by chance thing, I promise we’re not going out of our way to make our kid ‘special’ or ‘unique’. We’re just not Ashlee or Jayden kind of people. So, drumroll please, here are our girls names…
Lavinia Bronwyn – (Bronwyn is pronounced BRON-WIN, ‘bron’ is pronounced like the word ‘brawn’ and ‘wyn’ like the word ‘win’, bees weren’t sure about this pronounciation before)
Marina Celeste – do you guys prefer Maria? I do but Fiance loves Marina, what do you think?
Ophelia Valerie – just in case you’re not familiar with the pronounciation of Ophelia, it’s Oh-fee-lee-a)
If you want to mix and match the names that’s fine btw, we like all of the first and middle names and really appreciate your feedback.
Come on bees, I’m desperate and obviously not above begging.

@BridieBea: Ophelia Celeste, sounds so pretty 🙂 congrats on your baby girl!

I like Marina Celeste (I’m kinda with your fi – I like Marina more than Maria – though she will have plenty of songs with her name if it’s Maria, haha). I also think Ophelia Celeste would be nice.

I like a different combo, Isadora Celeste.

I like Isadora and Marina. Are you away that Ophelia has somewhat a negative connotation? It is also pro. “O-FEEL-ia” Geeze, I feel like a bossy pants wet blanket now :/

I know I said this in your previous poll, but I’ve always liked the name Bronwyn. Of the names you listed, I like the combination of Bronwyn Celeste or Bronwyn Valerie. If you’re set on using Bronwyn as a middle name as opposed to a first, though, I like Isadora Bronwyn.
Congratulations on the baby girl, and good luck choosing a name you both love!

I think your daughter is clearly destined to grow up and sing opera. 🙂

I like the name, Celeste, alone. How do they all flow with your last name?

Marina Valerie or Ophelia Celeste.
I love Marina & Ophelia. Such unique names. Ill be honest though, ive NEVER heard of Bronwyn? And Celese just reminds me of The Mary Celeste and has this sort of creepy feeling attached to it because of that haha, but it is beautiful!

I like Isadora and Ophelia. Gwendoline is pretty. Have you considered Genevieve? It’s similar.

@cbee: Naw, it’s fine. I’m really crappy at spelling phonetically spelling things. You’re actually right. I’m aware of the, uhm, negative assosciation with Ophelia. But I just look at it that Ophelia was kind and loving before she…you know…went a little off the rails. Can you see I’m trying really hard to down oly this so other bees don’t get put off? I really like this name, but my Future Mother-In-Law says it reminds her too much of Hamlet. Sigh.
Do you like the middle names for Isadora and Marina, or just the names themselves? If you don’t like them, can you suggest any alternatives? It’s fine if you don’t want to, but I’d appreciate it.

@mepayne: FH likes Genevieve but I’m not so keen. We considered it, but decided we wanted a list of names we both absolutely loved. Thanks for the suggestion though.
