my family mentioned that this year for christmas instead of regular old gifts they wanted to do “wedding themed’ presents- things i really wanted for the wedding but might not be able to reationalize in the budget (e.g. those cute little rhinestone “I Do” stickers on etsy,.. or the cute “Mrs x” hangers for wedding dress, etc). So i’m looking for ideas! What are great etsy finds, great momentos from your day that were your favorite details or takeaways?

You’ve got such a sweet family! That’s a totally awesome idea. I had a sign made with our names that we’re going to use it decorate in our home. It has the saying we used in our wedding “come along with me, the best is yet to be.” I kind of wish I had splurged on a new Mrs shirt for the days immediately after the wedding and for the honeymoon. My favorite decor splurge were our fancy hand painted parasols. They were so pretty in photos. Could you also get gift certificates for mani/pedis or message or something like that to use for the wedding? or something like having your dress pressed before the wedding?

That is very sweet of your family. We bought one of these wedding signs to display at our wedding and in our home, and we love it and have had a lot of people ask where we got it from. That’s a great thing you could ask for that probably isn’t already in your budget but that would be awesome to have.

Our cake topper -custom blown glass and DIY ceramic bride & groom
My veil and I had fingerless gloves
My cake-upside down wine glasses (with roses underneath) held the top layer of the cake.

We’re doing a candy buffet that I am SO stoked about! It turned out to be VERY expensive (I think around $1,000) but nobody has seen one around here so I think it will be something everyone will remember =)
I’m also in LOVE with my bouquet!

I would suggest things like mani pedi gift certificate for pampering or things you can cherish like a cake topper or toasting glasses . I think it’s nice to be able to say your cake topper was a gift from your parents, especially if you are going to display it in your house. This could also apply to the hanger but things like rhinestones for your shoes are something I would rather buy myself as there is not a lasting sentimental value if that makes sense. As far as details at the wedding. I really felt that my table runners made a huge difference if you are looking to upgrade plain linens. I would also consider asking for an extra hour of photography if that is a place you’ve considered cutting the budget. What thoughtful family you have!

How about toasting flutes, or a cake cutting/serving set. Lots of people register for them, but this way you’d be sure to receive it in advance so you have it for the wedding!
I’m actually getting some ‘wedding related stuff’ for Christmas (AKA stuff we want to register for, but found for WAY cheaper online. Some of our close relatives are going to get our china for us for Christmas/the wedding by taking advantage of the online prices)
