socalgirl1689 :  it’s really nice to walk around there in the day time. The ambiance & architecture is “Old Mexico” and Mission-style. I believe there’s a display of a ranch house showing how the natives and the Spanish friars lived daily. Tons of stores for souvenirs and cutesy stuff. There’s also many Mexican restaurants with ladies showing you how to make tortillas from scratch. Southern California is fueled by Mexican food! LOL

llevinso :  I don’t know if this is part of your itinerary but I wouldn’t go and cross the border alone to Tijuana, Mexico. I’ve been there several times but that’s because I accompany a friend (probably like twice a year) to her aunt’s house and I was a plus one at a hotel wedding once (same friend). But she knows her way around and spends one weekend per month there. Just to be safe especially with all the drug related violence.

Oh! Vin De Syrah – it’s this little underground Alice in Wonderland type bar in Gaslamp! We heard all about it from friends. It’s fun because it’s hidden and kind of tricky to get into! Look it up.

I luuuurve San Diego so much that we’re going to have our honeymoon on Coronado.

Everything on your list is great. You may want to add:

USS Midway

Lunch at Torry Pines after a morning at beautiful La Jolla

Visiting the seaside towns along the coast on the Coaster train

Wicked fun retro place to eat is the Corvette Diner in the Liberty Station area.

Caveat: Parking’s a bit of an issue (with the exceptoin of the luge parking structure next to Petco Park). There are frequent shuttle trolleys from the more remote parking areas around Balboa Park, too.

Edit to add: Heads up – the ocean is colder than you think.

You’ll love it. Have fun!
