How do you bees keep yourself from having heart attacks every time you look at your budget spreadsheet? My Fiance & I are already looking at a $10K wedding and although I LOVE what we have planned, that amount of money is just insane to me (still a graduate student here). We’re getting a bit of help from my Mom, but we wanted to fund as much of it ourselves as possible.
I know it’ll be an amazing day, but I need some help coming to grips with how much everything costs!

I’m in the same boat – grad student, 8k wedding, and it still seems like waaay too much.
Mostly I just look at what we’re paying for individual items and realize that I really did spend as little as I could on each of them. It helps, a little.
The other thing that helps when I think I’m spending too much is that we’re asking my friends and family to fly in from all over the country, and so we want to show them a good time for their efforts.
In terms of cutting costs, we’ve used ‘friendors’ and people just starting out for many things, and nixed a few things we don’t need at all. And we are taking everyone who says ‘how can I help?’ very seriously. Good luck!

Don’t add it up LOL. It will make you sick when you are at the end and see how much money you spent on one day.
In all honesty though I just remind myself that I know I would regret this forever if I never had a wedding. I would always long to have that special day.
