Hello ladies! I’m getting to know some of you here on WB, so I thought I’d finally share my proposal story! I usually don’t share too much about myself voluntarily — I just PM’d the waiting list keeper when I got engaged. But you’ve all been showing a lot of love, so I thought I’d finally share 🙂
I was spending the weekend before Christmas at his house with his family. The morning of the day it happened (Sunday), I posted this from my phone. It was my first post here on WB, but I was at a complete loss. It was the last straw. I was in a pretty bad mood all day but trying to disguise it because I didn’t want SO to feel bad/pressured. He must’ve been super bummed too because it turned out that his brother proposed the night of the day he planned to propose! (He was going to propose Saturday afternoon at an outdoor location but it was raining so he postponed it.) He didn’t let on, though. He’s really good at that.
Anyway, we were out & about in his hometown on Sunday when he commented about how many elementary schools there are in such a small town. He took me to see the one he attended & described some of his memories from his time there while we were parked outside. He continued the “tour” of his hometown, showing me areas that had been important growing up. He kept driving and started up the mountain to a spot we’d been once before where you can see the entire town. He parked the car and asked if I’d like to get out so we could have a better view. (I had told myself in my head “If he says we should get out in this cold weather, he’s going to do it! He’s only going to want to get out so he can get on one knee!” Then when he suggested it, I told myself, “That doesn’t mean he’s going to do it!!! Don’t expect it!” 😛 ) We were huddled together in the chilly winter air, taking in the view of the town where he grew up, when he began his sweet speech, ending by getting on one knee and asking me to marry him. I knew what was happening when he started his speech & I’d seen the ring already, but I was too excited to answer right away. I was truly speechless. I was just taking in the sight of him on his knee with the ring. Of course, when I could speak, I said yes! 🙂
Now, for some ring porn:
& Some fun ones:
The ring has some special symbolism for us, too. It’s blue topaz: FI’s birthstone and the month he proposed 🙂 A bonus is that my birthstone is diamond and also the month we’re getting married! That’s why I love my ring so much. Square halo was my dream setting, but I’d seen a lot of people I know get a diamond in a princess or cushion halo. I started to think that it wouldn’t mean anything because everyone has one & there’s no sentiment. In My Humble Opinion, it’s not unique & what would show that he picked it out for me? It would look like everyone else’s but this fits us as a couple 🙂 Dream setting + still different & unique! I couldn’t be happier ❤
