Today I scheduled an appointment to meet with the venue coordinator. The place I want is well within budget and is a steal for being in a big city. Our date and time is available and this time next week I’ll be able to officially say I have a venue (hopefully). I’m thisclose to squealing.
This is the place…

Feels good doesn’t it? We have also booked our venue! Next in line is church booking but I’m giving it a few more weeks 🙂

@ama0219: I know the feeling! As soon as I booked the venue, I’ve been buzzing with ideas! Booking the venue really cemented the fact that the wedding is no longer an abstract thought but an actual event!

Well I think we have decided on what we want to do. We’re moving into a house soon, and I’m thinking to save some cash we are going to have it in our new backyard. I would rather spend the 2500 I was going to on the venue on our honeymoon. Right now I’ve got alot of the big things done.
*A place (Our new backyard)
*Flowers (One of my bridemaids moms is doing them for free as a wedding gift)
*A photographer (One of FI’s friends is a budding photographer and said she would do our engagement and wedding pictures for little cost)
*A cake (My stepdad’s mom makes beautiful cakes and will make ours for little to no cost)
*Food (We are thinking cookout style since we are doing outdoors and my dad and stepdad love to grill)
*DJ (My Macbook will be the dj lol)
*Honeymoon (We are using the venue money plus what we were saving for the honeymoon to go to St. Maarten-St. Martin which I’m stoked about)
We still need my dress, invites, stds, and some other stuff I’m not thinking about right now. But it feels AMAZING to have that much planned out/taken care of already.

I am a terrible bride and honestly neglected wedding planning for a period of 2 months after the initial engagement thrill. It comes in fits and bursts for me.
I have my dress and my venue. The venue we picked will be both for the reception and the ceremony. It also does all the catering except for the cake! My sister (and BM) will be doing all our flower arrangements and I am so excited about it since she is a wizard when it comes to all that florist-try stuff.
I make too many excuses and put things off. When I do try to do things now, people (like vendors and fam) tell me I’m doing it too far in advance.

@GreenDream: We got engaged on Black Friday and gave the rest of 2010 just engagement time(about 2 months) before we hit the wedding planning trail. Its nice just to enjoy that a bit.
But it is really becoming real! Got an email from Wedding Channel saying its 14 months away. Eek. So much to do! E pics this Saturday. Save the Dates to be made next week. Venue contract will hopefully be finalized this week too. Thank goodness she is just holding our date for us while we pass the contract back and forth!
