@lina010: yeah – see it is, and it isn’t. the overall design of the dress I feel is the same. the fabric and appliques are very similar – though not necessarily in the same spots. I liked how on the original one of the appliques is placed on the torso and the skirt, kind of minimizing where the bodice ends and the skirt begins…this doesn’t have that.
I only have two minor complaints about the changes from the original – that I did not ask for – so I don’t know why they would just up and change it.
– the pleats on the bodice. The original does not have these pleats – or rather, if it does, they are subtle and hidden under a solid layer of organza. I don’t like pleats because I have a wide boy-shaped torso…visible horizontal stripes do nothing good for me.
– the pickups. ooohh the pick ups. there are just so many! As it’s been hanging they do seem to be more relaxed though. it’s still poufy, but not as much so. I did find that there is a 2 layer crinoline skirt under the dress…i may take the top layer off and that should further help reduce the poufiness on the top of the skirt.
The reason I’m disappointed in these changes from the original is because i really liked the simplicity of the original, especially for the beach. these changes give it, well, it just looks like it’s got a lot more going on…lol
And my last complaint is the size. It was a custom dress, so I am disappointed that it is too big – particularly since I hope to lose at least 10 lbs in the next 6 months. Better too big than too small I guess, but because of the detailing on the bodice, alterations are going to be a hassle and I really don’t want the overall look of the appliques to change.
I did try it on again though, and I really do love it…all complaints aside.
And while I say complaints…I’m not unhappy with it. I’m ecstatic I got such a gorgeous dress for the price I did. I’m just voicing my overall opinion, as I know others use this information for their own reference when choosing a replica. My advice to anyone ordering from dressilyme is this. Be specific in what you want. Do not just assume because it is a certain way in the photo it will be so. If you like a specific detail, let them know you want that specific detail. Negotiate before you pay. I’ve read many people receive pics if they tell them it is necessary in order for them to place an order. I waited until after the fact, and so i get what i get.
@hotpinkbride: thank you! steaming did help a little, as did letting it hang for a bit. i also think i may remove the top layer of crinoline and that should help some too. it’s just very ballgown-y for me and i prefer it to look more a-line. overall i’m very happy though. 🙂
